The United Kingdom remains one of Kenya’s top export destinations and a leading source of foreign direct investment, with over 300 UK companies operating across key sectors of our economy.

Kenya–UK Consultative Meeting on Public Asset Management Reforms.
The Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Investments and Assets Management, Mr. Cyrell Odede Wagunda, held a follow-up consultative meeting with the United Kingdom International Cooperation Agency delegation today in Nairobi.
The engagement built on earlier discussions aimed at identifying areas of collaboration to support Kenya’s Public Financial Management Reforms under the proposed Strengthening Fiscal Frameworks and Promoting Accountability in Kenya (SiFFPAK) programme.
British High Commission, Economic Advisor- Ms. Ann Nalo, reaffirmed the strong and longstanding partnership between the Governments of Kenya and the United Kingdom, particularly in advancing fiscal consolidation, debt sustainability, transparency, and accountability through technical assistance and capacity building supported by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
Key discussions focused on asset optimization as a priority area for collaboration over the next two to five years. Proposed interventions include capacity building for public officers, development of asset optimization policies and legal frameworks, and the rollout of IFMIS asset management modules across national and county governments.
FCPA Geoffrey Malombe, Director in charge of National Assets and Liability Management, emphasized that asset optimization offers a sustainable, non-tax avenue for easing fiscal pressures by improving the utilization of public assets, generating non-tax revenue, and reducing reliance on borrowing—while safeguarding social spending.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the PS commitment to providing policy oversight and technical leadership to ensure the successful implementation of the SiFFPAK programme.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the State Department, led by Dr. Bahati Mwita, Secretary Administration, together with Jamal Mbarak and Adan Dahir, as well as Con. More Osendo and Simeon Khakata, who are consultants with the British High Commission.

Trade is about trust, and in science, trust is about proof.
This was the central message at the handover of modern analytical equipment to @KephisKe provided under the @UKinKenya#REDIT programme implemented by @TradeMarkAfrica .
For Kenya’s horticulture sector, where access to high-value markets depends on meeting stringent sanitary and phytosanitary standards, the investment marks an important step forward. The new systems are expected to improve sample analysis throughout by 60% and reduce turnaround time by 50% For exporters, this means faster clearance of consignments, lower costs and fewer risks of rejection. For buyers in markets such as the United Kingdom and the European Union, it offers greater confidence that Kenyan produce is safe, compliant and consistently of high quality.
Beyond solving technical barriers, such investments reinforce Kenya’s reputation as a reliable supplier of fresh produce and strengthen the foundations of export-led growth in a sector that supports hundreds of thousands of livelihoods.
