Extraño el olor del café recién tostado y colado temprano en la mañana, en el portal de mi bisabuela. El sonido de los gallos cantando y de los carretones de caballos que pasaban rítmicamente por el barrio.

Extraño oír la risa de mis tías en respuesta a las décimas que se inventaba mi abuela y la frescura del campo al caer el sol. Extraño acostarme en la cama con el olor al talco de mis tías, y sentir el zumbar del pequeño ventilador que me despeinaba en vez de echarme fresco. Extraño el calor, el sudor pegajoso acompañado por risas aún más pegajosas.

Siento morriña por un país que solo me corre por las venas, pero que no sella mi nacionalidad en mi pasaporte azul. Aunque Sí sella, mi identidad al presentarme en la calle personas desconocidas.

Siento rabia por parte de una población a la que nunca he pertenecido, pero con la que festejaré cuando llegue su hora.

Siento amor por una cultura que me cautiva y una historia que me hechiza. Siento amor por lo que fue, pero tristeza por lo que pudo haber sido.

Nunca seré “cubana”, pero le dedico una pequeña hebra de mi ser por si algún día me quiere reconocer. Por si algún día me permite ayudar a refundir una pequeña parte de su historia y de su futuro.

I don’t agree. Almost all the of the sneaky stuff i did was late in the night. If my parents would’ve just limited my screentime, banned me from social media cites, and taken my phone away for bed time i wouldn’t have been texting grown men as a minor 🤷‍♀️ maybe i would’ve but not as much as i was allowed to, and they definitely would’ve caught me. I had 0 internet restrictions.

@shamefuldread What are you talking about? if this person had an adult in their life that monitored their phone and internet usage, there would be no ADULT texting a MINOR. Not the other way around. Predators will always target children, it’s up to parents to make sure it’s not theirs.
