Because of Shamima Begum's case, the British woman who travelled to Syria to join the Islamic State (IS) group aged 15, the British government was able to send a clear message to its citizens: If you join a foreign army you will be prosecuted on your return to the UK or in Begum’s case become stateless.

But there seems to be some confusion around those with dual nationalities like Binyamin Needham, Nathaniel Young and Simon Levi and the 100 British citizens enlisted with the Israeli army who do not have dual British and Israeli nationality. Is their activity illegal?
