@Steve_Sailer@NobletStrength In America athleticism is more of a general concept about ability in sports. We don't even think of a track athlete as particularly athletic because they just do one thing, that don't have to catch a ball or juke a defender.
@Steve_Sailer@NobletStrength Many of these conversations are just Americans and Euros talking past each other because the word athletic has different meanings on opposite sides of the Atlantic. In Europe, where the sport we call "track" is called "athletics" the word athleticism just means run fast/jump high
@owroot Absurd map. All that red in the Appalachians is getting ~20 degree or less mornings all winter. If it gets above 45 its for a brief bit of the afternoon. Not my idea of a comfortable day.
@BayernAusBoston America should dump FIFA entirely and reform the officiating rules so that they don't suck. You could easily make it much more enjoyable to watch. It doesn't matter if you alienate foreigners, they're not watching anyway. We could call our sport "Soccer"
@kirkkinsey The vast majority of kids in soccer are playing it as an intro to team sports before they move on to other things. I've never met a kid in my entire life who said he wanted to grow up to be a professional soccer player.
