Staff employment policies in educational institutions need a complete overhaul. These should be performance-based rather than permanent positions, and student feedback should be considered. No woman has ever topped IIT JEE exam in 60+ years.

Until 2013, no girl made it to even a top-10 rank. In 2025, the top 15 ranks were all male.

No woman has ever headed an IIT campus, as a director in those same 60+ years.

Why are IITs - from aspirants to professors to administrators - so heavily skewed towards men?

Before you conclude anything about ability, three facts:

Girls beat boys in CBSE boards every single year. Women out-qualify men in NEET. Women took UPSC's Rank 1 three years in a row.

The variable isn't the girls, it's what stands between them and this one exam.

Families spend 13.4% less on daughters' education. The Kota bet is made for sons. Girls are just 23% of JEE Advanced test-takers.

And in 2017, an IIT committee found women were 20% of qualifiers, but fewer than half were allowed by their families to enroll in IIT despite eligibility.

They cracked the hardest exam on earth and lost at the dinner table.

There's a structural tax on female ambition in India, collected long before the test begins.

Zero female JEE AIR 1s was never a verdict on ability. It's an audit of their social and financial obstacles.
