Glad to share that the eight (8) Iranian fishermen rescued at sea by the British vessel MMA Valour after their boat ran aground have been successfully repatriated and departed from Karachi for Iran this morning.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan and all concerned authorities coordinated closely with the Iranian and UK authorities to facilitate the safe transit and early return of our Iranian brethren to their homeland.

For the MOU to hold and result in a lasting peace, we must restrict aid to Israel immediately & make it clear that we will not defend them should Iran opt to strike in response to Israel’s attacks in Lebanon.

DPM/FM felicitated the leadership, government, and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the signing of the historic “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” with the United States. He also conveyed his best wishes for the commencement of the next phase of negotiations, expressing hope that the process would move smoothly and yield positive outcomes.

FM Araghchi expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s constructive and sustained mediation efforts.

The two leaders exchanged views on regional developments and highlighted the ceasefire violations conducted by Israel in Lebanon, expressing serious concern over the situation.

FM Araghchi also thanked DPM/FM for Pakistan’s facilitation in the repatriation of thirty (30) Iranian nationals, including 8 fishermen rescued at sea by the United Kingdom and 22 crew members recently interdicted by the United States.
