I want to feel safe in my connections with zero anxiety. I don't want to feel like an around the clock emotional caretaker. I want to feel taken care of as much as I care for. I don't want to be losing sleep in fear that something will go wrong again.
Call it a millennial crisis if you want...
But in my 30's, I realized I don't actually want the life I worked so hard for. I don't care about titles. I don't care about climbing anyone else's ladder. I care about time. I care about slow mornings. I care about peace.I care about bare feet at the beach with nowhere to be.
I still want to make money... just not at the cost of my life.
Once you cause me an unnecessary emotional distress and I tag you as unsafe for my mental health, I have clocked out forever. Life is too short to continue recovering from other peopleโs bad behaviors. There are better things to use the small social support I have for.
Just to be clear, if my child goes out with yโall and yโall return and my child is nowhere to be found, and thereโs no answer in sight, your moms are going to be just as sad as I am.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Another form of low self esteem is definitely being too available to people who have shown you countless times that they lack a sense of urgency and enthusiasm towards you. I know its hard but regulate your nervous system to calm down.
Iโve never met someone whoโs genuinely happy with their life, comfortable with themselves, and at peace with their surroundings go out of their way to be rude. more often than not, that kind of behaviour comes from people who are deeply unhappy and project their pain onto others. once you realise that, it becomes much easier not to take it personally.
