How #conflict sensitive is #ClimateFinance in Mali, Somalia & Sudan? How much do climate #adaptation investments in these regions support or hinder security?
Our new research by @cao_yue86 @TillyAlcayna@adri_quev@ODIclimate answers these questions:

The #IPCC's new #ClimateReport warns of the devastating losses and damages #ClimateChange is already causing worldwide, but as @mairidupar writes, it's also clear on actions everyone must take to hold #GlobalWarming to 1.5°C 🔥 https://t.co/zHllMMrups
New @IPCC_CH report shows that #climatechange is already causing observable changes in ecosystems.
The latest assessment considers the interdependence between #climate and #biodiversity to a much greater extent than previous reports.

The #IPCC's WGII report on Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability puts median adaptation costs in developing countries at:
$127bn in 2030
$295bn in 2050
Current adaptation finance:
$46bn globally (2019/20, @climatepolicy)
$20bn from developed to developing countries (2019, @OECD)
Adaptation finance continues to lag. Total adaptation finance remains far below the scale necessary -annual adaptation costs in developing economies will be at least in the range of USD 155 to USD 330 billion by 2030 #climatefinance#climateadaptation https://t.co/JA55saAhgU
This is climate apartheid. Even the countries that do get funding aren't getting enough. The rich world must meet its climate finance promises & if Southern governments cant access this money bc austerity/structural adjustment, the big polluters must pay for capacity building too
Perhaps the biggest need in a new climate finance framework is around climate disclosures—the financial risks that companies and issuers (including local and state governments) face around climate change, @jwkane1 & @AdieTomer note. https://t.co/Yufw4x8RMV
