The Carolina Panthers have drafted a player with the 57th overall pick once in franchise history.

2000: S Deon Grant, Tennessee

Deon Grant missed his rookie season due to suffering a left hip fracture. He would play the next three seasons and started 48 games for Carolina.

He would play the next 8 seasons with the Jaguars, Seahawks, and Giants. He would retire a Super Bowl champion (XLVI) with the Giants after the 2011 season.

In 11 seasons, Deon Grant recorded 778 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 30 interceptions, 110 pass deflections, 4 forced fumbles, and 7 fumble recoveries.

The Carolina Panthers are re-signing LS J.J. Jansen.

The long-time Carolina Panther turned 40 last month and is returning to the Panthers for his 18th season in the NFL.

The Green Bay Packers would sign J.J. Jansen as an undrafted free agent in 2008. In 2009, the Packers would trade J.J. Jansen to the Carolina Panthers for a conditional pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Since 2009, J.J. Jansen has played 277 games for the Carolina Panthers (franchise record) and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013.
