Is it a wasp? Is it a bee 🐝? No! It is a fancy mimetic fly of the subfamily #Eristalinae Newman, 1834 🪰, the 4th of the 6 pollinator taxa targeted by #INCSTEP @TETTRIsEU!

Eristalinae (drone flies) is one of four subfamilies of the family Syrphidae, also known as hoverflies.

This month @Mari0_Alamo and I are resuming the #butterfly transects in disturbed habitats around the false yellowhead (#Dittrichia viscosa).

With surveys in 2023 and this year, we hope to have enough data to characterise this plant-pollinator #interaction 🦋🌻!
