We know from those who attend their first captioned performance, how liberating it is to be included in the moment, word for word, same time as everyone else. Tell us if you’ve been to a captioned event before & how did it make you feel? #HearingLOssHour#CAW2023@HearingLosshour

@HearingLosshour@hearingaids This is true. Lack of sleep affects mental health in general, that then affects how much you can “hear” as your brain is tired. So you hear less - you are then less likely to engage in social activities as that can exacerbate the situation for you. #HearingLossHour
@HearingLosshour 1: hearing names, especially ones that are not English, as I get worried I’ll pronounce them wrong because I won’t hear them correctly and inadvertently cause offence
@Sall_Baker@HearingLosshour No, it’s about your brain processing what you’ve heard. The more tired you are, the slower you can be. Just like if you’re been translating or speaking another language all day - it’s the same mental load and effort. #HearingLossHour
@HearingLosshour I have just had to accept that there are times when it's worse than others. New situations can trigger it but I find you have to try and be upfront if you can.
