With DeepSeek, every org in the world has access to the latest AI technology, only for the price of the GPUs needed to run them internally. Every org gets a free IQ boost!
One immediate consequence for the Saas business is that AI enabled capabilities cannot be priced at a huge premium.
Other open source software like Linux or Postgres would start to incorporate open source AI deeply and that would make it even easier for their users.
The pace of innovation in every industry will accelerate as we learn how to use this freely available technology.

Definitely the best I've seen so far.

I once jokingly suggested that a VR Twitter app that only scrolled to the next post when you did a squat would be excellent exercise.
Fitness turned out to be one of the durable uses of VR, so I’m actually wondering if Meta could add a tiny bit of WebXR input code into the web FB or Instagram codebase to add “VR exercise mode”. Do it as a fun joke (no PM!), and it might hit a nerve.
I’m not 100% sure you can access the XR inputs without being in an immersive rendering mode, but it sounds generally useful, so I would hope so.
Any Web XR dev want to whip up a test prototype to just scroll a page up and down?
🗞️Today, we are excited to share our biggest investment as @AntlerGlobal, in India so far.

In this business, a few times in your career, you come across a truly disruptive business model that challenges the way things have been done, and extremely obsessed founders creating a culture that is so unique, you have never seen it before.
When that happens, despite all the things not clear, it’s a joy to jump on board that potential rocketship.

Idea: an AI-enabled companion app that records and transcribes conversations and insights from your therapy sessions.
Later, it acts as a daily extension of the therapist, a mood journal and an SOS app to remind you of what you learned about yourself during your therapy sessions
Speed of execution is the moat inside which live all other moats. Speed is your best strategy. Speed is your strongest weapon. Speed has THE highest correlation to mammoth outcomes. Those who conflate speed w/ 'thoughtlessness' haven't seen world class execution @ speed. E.g.:
How Customer Acquisition Channel Mix should evolve for consumer brands?
Whether you are building an app or a facewash or a protein bar, acquiring new customers remain one of the toughest challenges
And with a plethora of customer acquisition channels( basically all marketing activities are some form of customer acquisition), it seems very complex
Now, if I were to make a list of activities that we have done at Atomberg over the last 10 years to acquire customers/generate demand, it would look something like this
- Society Activations
- Exhibitions
- Partnering with a Niche Website called Bijlibachao
- Part of Forums of Energy Auditors
- Facebook Ads
- Google Ads
- Activations in Offline Electrical Shops
- Large Scale TV/OOH/ATL Campaigns
- E-Commerce Ads
- Electrician Tie Ups
- PR
- Organic Social Content
- Sponsorships
- Influencer Marketing
- SEO
If I were to classify all customer acquisition activities, I can actually classify them in a 2*2 with the two dimensions being Scalability (If money isn’t a constraint, can I spend more and get more customers to buy) and Time to Results ( some give immediate results, some take time)
This is what it would look like - pic attached
There are some channels where if you have money, you can quickly scale. Of course any channel that can be scaled quickly also sees diminishing returns as you spend more and more on that channel. Amazon ads, Google/FB etcs are classic examples of such channels.
Then you have channels which take time to scale. Content and SEO are perfect examples of this. They don’t give immediate results, but if done well, pays off massively in the long run. They follow a classic S-Curve when it comes to results vs efforts
And then of course you have unscalable channels. They sometimes give good results, but very difficult to scale. A society activation can give you good quick trials, but it is impossible to do it in every housing society at a cost that makes sense. Same for niche blogs/sites etc. There just aren’t enough of them for it to be a scalable channel
And this has massive implications in the acquisition channel mix and how it should evolve with time as the brand scales

Calling it now:
After coming back to SF, it's clear to me we are in an AI bubble. Too many AI founders are building picks and shovels just because VCs want them to. Very few founders building from personal problems and passion, most just building because that's what everyone else is doing. Very few actually solving real problems.
. @stripe will temporarily move to an invite-only model for new account sign-ups in India.
Reason? RBI's regulations ofcourse (and the fact that the Indian market is way too small right now for Stripe to take it seriously).
“The regulatory landscape in India continues to evolve, and our goal is to offer the same experience in India that we aspire to offer to all our users worldwide. For example, enabling all new users to launch quickly with easy onboarding is a fundamental Stripe feature that we cannot promise in India today.”
Stripe is fundamental for anyone who is selling digital products to global audience - we have always faced several issues with Stripe's India integration (and card support) - high time @stripe decides whether to go all-in on India (acquire a local entity, to start with?) or just exit the market.
----------------
On a diff note: when it comes to regulations, India wants to act like China, but without any of the Chinese leverage.
The government has failed to control the daily scams / fake calls machinery built on aadhaar - but we want to regulate everything that helps India based entrepreneurs build global businesses.
Mistral is France’s answer to OpenAI. And it’s all open source.
They just threw Paris’s largest ever AI hackathon. 1,000+ hackers applied to build what’s possible with open source LLMs.
Here are the finalists from the @MistralAI x @cerebral_valley hackathon in Paris (🧵):
It’s only been 2 days since OpenAI revealed GPT-4o.
Users are uncovering incredible capabilities that completely change how we use and interact with AI.
The 12 most impressive use cases so far:
After almost a decade, I have made the decision to leave OpenAI. The company’s trajectory has been nothing short of miraculous, and I’m confident that OpenAI will build AGI that is both safe and beneficial under the leadership of @sama, @gdb, @miramurati and now, under the excellent research leadership of @merettm. It was an honor and a privilege to have worked together, and I will miss everyone dearly. So long, and thanks for everything. I am excited for what comes next — a project that is very personally meaningful to me about which I will share details in due time.
