New research from our department in Neurosurgery: percutaneous Meckel's cave methylprednisolone/bupivacaine injections deliver fast, effective relief for refractory trigeminal neuralgia with concomitant continuous pain, with minimal risk of worsening neuropathic symptoms. A safer option for one of the hardest facial pain populations to treat.
Congratulations to @adwaygopakumar, @shovanbhatia, and the team, with senior author @GAZenonosMD.

Percutaneous glycerol rhizotomy is a safe and effective procedure for providing immediate pain relief for trigeminal neuralgia patients, however, it does not offer strong long-term pain relief durability. https://t.co/HvUc7FH47i @shovanbhatia@GAZenonosMD@reganmshanahan@UPMC
Mixed reality can map the superficial temporal artery in EC–IC bypass surgery with comparable accuracy to Doppler ultrasonography, but in a fraction of the time, demonstrating potential to optimize cerebrovascular neurosurgical workflows. @shovanbhatia https://t.co/vOIqO1JrQy
NSIG Faculty Dinner Series! We had a great time hosting Dr. Kat Hoes for our Fall Faculty Dinner Series!! Very inspiring discussions and engagement @PittNeurosurg@PittHealthSci@PittTweet
Last Brain & Blade session and it was a fun one! We learned about the management of carotid stenosis and carotid endarterectomy with @DrMichaelJLang!! We also got in the lab to understand the anatomy and practice dissections.
