No one wants to lose their hair, but it all used to be thought of as genetic for men.
Research is showing otherwise.
A fascinating benefit of probiotics supplements is a reduction in male pattern baldness.
Study details:
Using the probiotics Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus pentosus strains at a total CFU of 5 billion, "men had a significant decrease in the number of telogen hairs (hair loss phase) in the probiotic group compared to that in the placebo group (reduction of 6.5%).
This suggests that the patients taking probiotics experienced less hair shedding and showed a tendency to keep the number of long hairs stable compared to the placebo group.
Regarding hair thickness, this study found that the mean thickness (mm) decreased significantly in the placebo group but remained stable in the probiotic group.
For the participants over 37.5 treated with probiotics, we observed an increase in the number and density of terminal hairs after 16 weeks of treatment.
It was observed that the number of telogen and vellus hairs decreased in the probiotic group but only in younger individuals and not in those older than 37.5 years.
The mean hair thickness also increased in the younger age group but not in the older age group. However, the number of terminal hairs increased in the >37.5 age group, and no change was observed in the younger age group."
Lactobacillus plantarus is readily available, but Lactobacillus pentosus is not commercially available at this point.
I can only speculate, but I would imagine that other probiotic strains may achieve similar benefits because fermented foods including a kimchi and cheonggukjang probiotic had the same results in another study.

Less Sugar, Lower Biological Age
Researchers at UC San Francisco recently found that eating a diet rich in vitamins and minerals — especially one low in added sugar — can help keep your biological age younger than your chronological age.
They discovered that even small amounts of added sugar can accelerate cellular aging, even in otherwise healthy diets.
“We knew that high levels of added sugars are linked to worsened metabolic health and early disease, possibly more than any other dietary factor,”
The researchers suggest that cutting just 10 grams of added sugar daily from your diet could reverse your biological age clock by a couple of months, offering a perhaps simple but impactful way to support long-term health.

In one study, people who drank 3 to 5 cups of coffee a day were less likely to have a buildup of calcium in the vessels that bring blood to your heart muscle -- that could mean a lower chance of heart disease. https://t.co/BsFyIMcc6x

Every 33 seconds, someone in the U.S. dies of cardiovascular disease.
A new Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials showed dark chocolate over 70% cacao can lower blood pressure, cholesterol and more.
Consuming cocoa extract or very dark chocolate was shown to reduce several cardiovascular risk factors in a new meta-study, a study of other studies. Cocoa is a good source of catechins and other polyphenolic compounds like flavanols known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Cocoa consumption appeared to lower blood pressure overall, as well as bad cholesterol and blood sugar.
Cocoa use was associated with improvement in total cholesterol and LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and fasting blood glucose.
A delicious way to improve health!

El consumo de café podría reducir el riesgo de muerte por sedentarismo asociado a pasar mucho tiempo sentado (6 horas diarias o más). Las personas con el cuartil más alto de consumo de café tendrían un menor riesgo de mortalidad por todas las causas.
