@StatisticUrban I’m less interested in the poll than in what you think. You’re a brilliant person with deep insights across disciplines. You’ve been vocal about your hesitations with Platner, but I haven’t heard you support Collins or Mills.
I occasionally think about converting religion. My father was a devout Anglican, my mother an unexpectedly and liberated reformed Adventist. The Pope has given me some inclination towards Catholicism, but gun to my head I’d choose Islam.
@DrFrancisYoung@magicinthealps Respect. My late father (Durham ‘54) learned Latin at school. Didn’t exactly provide common sense but certainly a better sense of the world!
@DrFrancisYoung@Sargon_of_Akkad Joining Twitter as a newbie must be overwhelming. It’s a unique social media format and it takes time and discipline to ‘curate’ the Feed. I’m much more informed as a result, but my friends and family either aren’t interested, or seem biased towards the platform.
@HughLCarey@createstreets Agree. In fact, as long as it provides water, is easy to maintain, and therefore affordable to install widely, it’s far more preferable to a piece of art. I swear these accounts are right-wing because they choose decorum over access; design over functionality.
@AsclepiasSyrica@BenMcCombe@_cssko There’s no excuse for the US’ killing of innocent civilians—Iraqi or otherwise. But this is about a political race—one candidate opposes war, the others happily condone it. Making a tautological statement doesn’t help!
@n_hold With a lawn in Utah you have to either use herbicides (which my neighbors do,) or battle dandelions and an invasive thistle by hand (which I do.) Athough there’s one property that manages to grow a tall, seedy grass that they cut very late in the spring.
