@chloepomfret_ Go NHS right to choose!! The shortest list is 4 weeks at the moment with RTN medical! Also look at:
Clinical partners

Axia ASD
Skylight psychiatry
Dr j and colleagues
Psych uk (one of the longest waiting lists and have heard some negative reviews)
@SandyChatterbox@SLT_Francesca@RCSLT@MikeysWish_VDA@NAPLIC However we need to bear in mind coaching research and how a lot of time is needed to do that, and it needs to be actual coaching, not ‘you’ve seen it now, you do it’. For CAS that is inexcusable as not all therapists are trained, let alone being able to expect others to. (2/2)
@SandyChatterbox@SLT_Francesca@RCSLT@MikeysWish_VDA@NAPLIC Having worked both NHS and independent, my experience is that it’s mindset, and senior therapists often genuinely believe what they’re offering is correct depending on whether they take the model of the therapist delivering all the therapy, or training others to do it (1/2)
@Keira_Radski Yeah until Spring. As options for this tend to be quite limited, it might be worth keeping an eye on for when it re-opens, particularly if a free or low cost option is needed :)
@leckiegeorgia@SLT_Francesca I am so sad to hear you feel this way. I am both independent and NHS right now and I am the same person when I am in the NHS, although much much more limited on time per child. There is bad practice everywhere but most of us want the best for every child we see and try our best
@SLT_Francesca I worked for Kent previously and never said anything like this. Most school aged I assessed were appropriate for diagnosis, and I picked up on some seen for speech whose Language Disorder had been missed. Functional impact is important but it’s the whole picture that matters
It’s #DyspraxiaAwarenessWeek. 💛
It is estimated that 1 in 10 people are dyspraxic, though many will not know that they are. It is part of neurodiversity, though it may also be diagnosed as ‘Developmental Coordination Disorder’. Not everyone with dyspraxia presents with the same challenges - for example an individual might not have any differences in their speech, or they may struggle with fine motor skills but not with gross motor skills. 🌈

Phonological awareness and its link to language and literacy is the theme of the next DLD/SLCN specialist teacher network. It's on 23/9, led by the amazing @DrHelenSLT. It's free, with resources available to members. #SLCN#DevLangDis

Are you a parent of a child with DLD? Or a teacher of children with DLD in your class? Or an SLT service looking to raise awareness of DLD? You could have the DLD mouse come and visit!!

Had a lovely time this week working more closely with my OT colleagues, observing and jointly delivering assessments. Also reflecting on my own sensory profile and what strategies support my own regulation and focus. Collaboration between #SLT and #OT is so valuable!
Really enjoyed listening to summary from @Engage_DLD about their adult members. A good time to announce that this Sept we will be relaunching the @ClinicUCL including an assessment service for adults with suspected #DevLangDis! 🥳See https://t.co/PMGXBsO8l2 for info! @lilacCourt
Been putting my learning cap on and have been to two really brilliant Clinical Excellence Network (CEN) meetings this week. My brain is full of new knowledge about neurodiversity-affirming practice and the link between attachment, trauma and communication 🧠 #mysltday#slt
Seeing a young man, who has been working so hard in speech therapy, walk into the session and proudly state his name clearly for the first time was an absolute highlight today 💕 #mySLTday#SLT#speechie
