@FredSim69351984 When they locked up our churches, I fell into depression. Then after many rosaries, I realized I was made for this. My grandma was baptized in Mexico when she was 2 days old in a cave! My great grandpa, her father, was shot at, and hid priests in his home. Viva Cristo Rey!
On the fifth anniversary of his ordination, a young American priest studying in Belgium had just enough money for the train to Lourdes. Nothing more.
He recounted, “If I have faith enough to go, it’s up to the Blessed Mother to help me out.”
He arrived broke. Then he decided that if Our Lady was going to cover his hotel bill, she could just as easily cover a big one as a small one. “When you ask for miracles,” he later joked, “you must never be a piker.” So he checked into one of the better hotels and began a nine-day novena.
Day nine morning: nothing.
Day nine noon: nothing.
Day nine evening: nothing.
He went to the grotto around 10:30 at night to give Mary one last chance. While he knelt there, a portly American gentleman tapped him on the shoulder.
“Are you an American priest?”
“Yes.”
“Do you speak French?”
“Yes.”
“Will you come to Paris with my wife and daughter tomorrow and speak French for us?”
They walked back to the hotel. Then the man asked the most interesting question the young priest had ever heard:
“Have you paid your hotel bill yet?”
Our Lady settled it.
The young priest was Fulton Sheen. Years later he would call Lourdes the best city in the world to be broke — financially, spiritually, or otherwise. And for the rest of his life he never stopped telling the story of the Mother who always showed up, even when the clock was running out.
God love you.

@RachelToRome Oh no! The only relationship my dad had w my kids was commenting on my fb posts. Telling them he loved them, but making no effort to see them, just like with me when I was little. I had to finally leave fb for good, just to have peace.
"Most strangers bored Francisco. What silly questions! One of the favorites was the one inflicted on small boys everywhere in the world: What are you going to be when you grow up? There were those two stuffy senhoras, for example.
'Do you want to be a carpenter?'
'No, ma’am.'
'Ah, you want to be a soldier, then?'
'No, ma’am.'
'A doctor, isn’t that it?'
'Oh, no!'
'I know what you would like to be - a priest!'
'No.'
'What! To say Mass? To hear confessions? To pray in the church? Isn’t that it?'
'No, senhora. I don’t want to be a padre.'
'Then what do you want to be?'
'I don’t want to be anything.'
'You don’t want to be anything?!'
'No. I want to die and go to heaven.'
Francisco had no ambition to go to school with Jacinta and Lucia. What was the use, if he was going to heaven so soon? But he liked to walk with them as far as St. Anthony’s Church in Fátima. He would say:
'You go to school and I will stay here in the church near the hidden Jesus. It isn’t worth the trouble for me to learn to read. I’m leaving soon for heaven. When you come back, call me.'
The church was being repaired, and the Sacred Host had been moved from the main altar to a small one, near the entrance. 'And there I found him when I returned,' said Lucia. He used to spend whole days on his knees looking at the tabernacle where his Lord was waiting for someone to come and visit Him. It is likely enough that in this way, without direction, Francisco learned to practice mental prayer. He may well have become a fairly advanced contemplative, he may possibly have had ecstasies. He had learned from the Master Himself.
He never paraded his piety, but concealed it, even from Jacinta. One day after school when the girls lost sight of him on the Serra, they found him lying prostrate and motionless behind a stone wall.
'Why don’t you come and pray with us?'
'I’d rather pray alone, to think, and to console Our Lord. He is so sad.'
'Francisco, which do you like better, to console Our Lord or to convert sinners so that their souls won’t go to hell any more?'
This was a more profound theological question than Lucia may have realized, but he answered without hesitation:
'I’d rather console Our Lord.'
'Don’t you remember then how sad Our Lady was the last month when she said not to offend Our Lord, because He was much offended already?'
'I want to console Our Lord first and then convert the sinners so that they won’t offend any more.'
One day he was missing so long that Jacinta thought he was lost. 'Francisco! Francisco!' No answer. Finally they discovered him, prostrate and motionless, behind a pile of rocks. He hardly stirred even when they shook him, and when he finally got up, he seemed hardly to know where he was. He explained that he had been saying the prayer of the Angel, and then had remained there thinking.
'And didn’t you hear Jacinta calling you?'
“No, I heard nothing.”
He obtained notable cures and conversions. He could never resist any honest appeal. Just as he had once offered a boy two vintens to release a captive bird, and had run all the way to Aljustrel and back to fetch the money, so now he would spare himself no trouble to free some struggling soul from sin.
One day on the way to school Lucia met her sister Teresa, recently married, who had come from Lomba, with a request for prayers. The son of a woman there had been arrested and falsely accused of a grave crime for which he might be exiled for many years. After Teresa had passed along to her mother’s house, Lucia told the others what she had said. Francisco was visibly moved - he said:
'While you two are at school I will stay with the hidden Jesus and ask for this grace.'
When school was over the girls found him kneeling before the Santissimo. 'Did you tell Our Lady about that?' asked Lucia.
'Yes, and you can tell your sister that the boy will be home again in a few days.'
So it came to pass; and the woman was at Cova da Iria on the thirteenth of the next month, giving thanks for her son’s release."
Mr. Rogers, who studied for seminary before going into children’s TV, signed off every show with the words, “You've made this day a special day by just your being you. There's no person in the whole world like you, and I like you just the way you are."He looked straight at the camera when he said those words.
One of his videographers had been a wounded and angry man. He felt unloved by his dad, and by God. And one day, filming those final words, a ray of grace broke through. He pulled Mr Rogers aside and said, “You know, when you said that today to the kids, I felt like you were talking to me.”
Mr. Rogers said, “I’ve been saying that line directly, specifically to YOU for the past two years.”
It’s easy to listen to scripture and think God is talking to someone else. He’s not. He’s talking to YOU. Looking at YOU. Telling YOU that one thing we never grow past needing to hear: I love you. You are my son. You are my daughter. Just because you are you.

I just found out that my 68 yo mother got flu, covid, and rsv shot last Saturday. She was very defensive about it when I asked her about it. She thinks that makes her healthy, but won't go for a walk, or try to lose weight. It's heartbreaking.
What really happened and what has been covered up?

In many states, puppies legally get 8 weeks with their mothers.
But through surrogacy, newborn babies can be separated from the women who birthed them within HOURS.
We recognize that puppies need their mothers, but suddenly that doesn’t matter for human babies?
Absolutely backwards.
Yesterday we had PE sub for the 9th graders. He was an older man in a wheelchair. No one listened to him. After talking to him, I found out he's retired from our local community college. He ran the STEM dept. He was a wealth of knowlege, and I felt privliged to speak to him.
“I am so grateful for the Roman Catholic faith with which I was raised…my mother was a convert to Catholicism, and it’s beautiful what she gave me, in the faith. I believe every bit that the church teaches. Confession matters. Communion matters.”

I have *some* sympathy for those who got swept up by the covid hoax fear porn and propaganda, but if you fall for "muh plague" in 2026 you cannot be helped.
When my dad, Jack, was diagnosed with terminal cancer, he bought his dream car, a cream 1979 Corvette, and took one last road trip with my mom.
Seven years later, when my son Jack was born, I opened the curtain at the hospital and saw this parked directly outside our room. I grabbed my phone and took this picture.
Not in the parking lot. Not near the emergency entrance. Right outside our window, blocking the main entrance so that it eventually had to be towed.
I drove by that hospital many times after and never once saw another car parked outside that room,
