Civil servant by day. Building companies by night. Dad always. Embracing grind. Hiding from cosmic mystery to build material foundations, but it comes knocking.
@RichDecibels I’ve always felt the network state is basically little more than a high tech version of traditional Romani clan society. A parallel system with its own laws and loyalties and economy that moves to countries that are the least hostile to it, while always being ready to go.
@shagbark_hick We moved countries when I was a kid. Compared to my relatives who stayed the lack of roots wasn't good for me. My wife is in the same situation. Now that we're raising our family we miss having more kin. Moving back isn't easy either - old country only feels partially mine.
@Strapchay@aidenybai It’s true that you end up being in charge of compacting context yourself by adding and removing files from context, so you need to be more aware of your codebase. IMO that’s a good thing.
@solo_lennying I have heard rumors of some oldtimers using it at my workplace. I work at a government financial institution. Many of the old guard also use something even more absurd called EViews. You would be surprised at what’s being using in the wild.
@AimenDean A friend of mine was on Lyrica for a while. He called it - and I quote - a f****g rat poison. He seriously spiraled mentally before he realized it was the Lyrica. Unfortunately, I don't know what he tried next, but can ask.
@SteveFore2@doctorow That is a different argument entirely. AI is having profound effects exactly because of how well it works for a lot of use cases. That certainly needs to be mitigated, but the cat is out of the bag.
@withkynam I got bored as can be with dark mode UI after using it by default since it got trendy 15-ish years ago. World is darker now, I need my UIs to fight it with a bit of light. Bring on the brightness, I am ready.
Shipping https://t.co/jDcWN0fPmC - helping small businesses in Sweden bid on public contracts🧵: This summer I experimented with public data and AI. I built some MCPs, had some fun. Soon became clear that there was one data source that was difficult to access.
In Sweden, there is no central database for public contracts. There are a bunch of privately owned portals that government posts on. When I demonstrated my public data insight-AI agents to friends and acquaintances, they often asked about procurement tenders. But that was one source I didn’t have.
It turns out that tender monitoring services are really expensive. It can cost around $1000 per year to monitor contracts, usually paid annually. Many small business owners simply don’t bother, missing out on participating in a process designed to improve the efficiency of public purchasing.
Said and done. After several evenings and rainy summer days, I built an infrastructure that gathers all procurements from various portals. It wasn't straightforward, but eventually, it worked. Once the infrastructure and database were built (70% AI-generated code and 30% handwritten Python), I used the Swedish rising star Lovable to create the graphical user interface.
I quickly realized it wasn't feasible to provide this data for free. It's complicated to gather, and maintaining the infrastructure costs money. Additionally, I wanted AI features, which also aren't free. Besides, I was eager to build a product side hustle.
And that’s how Offentlig AI was born.
✅ Search and filter all procurements, updated daily
✅ Create matching profiles based on CPV codes, regions, and municipalities
✅ Smart AI assistant that creates matching profiles for you
✅ Save procurements for later and set statuses to stay organized
✅ Attractive and informative landing page
🔜 Weekly emails with all currently matched contracts
After researching what seemed reasonable, I settled on SEK 179 per month. I hope this makes procurement more accessible and democratic, and I hope it will take off as a product. If you have some Swedes in your networks, please send it their way.
(Yes, sorry, Offentlig AI is in Swedish - but feel free to turn on your browser translation and take it for a spin anyway)
37 years ago I was a tadpole in a dark, warm place. Then I started posting here, found my advantage. Now I use AI to sell self help to my tadpole followers so they can be as lovable as I am. Everything is possible by the grace of god and machine learning.
