BREAKING: Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation broadcaster Kan 11 insults the 1,700-year-old Armenian presence in Jerusalem.

After Armenia’s Eurovision performance on May 15, a Kan 11 commentator said:

“I can’t believe we gave ‘these’ guys an entire quarter in Jerusalem.”

Then added: “Survivor — that’s how we feel after watching this song.”

For the purpose of historical clarity and accuracy:

• The Armenian presence in Jerusalem dates back to 301 AD, when Armenia became the first Christian nation.

• The Armenian Quarter was not “given.” It was built, stone by stone, by Armenians over centuries and under empires and dynasties that have long since vanished.

• It is not a gift — it is a legacy. One that is preserved, nurtured, and defended to this very day.

Such remarks are not just ignorant — they are offensive to the collective memory of Armenians and their millenial-old contributions to the culturual, social, and economical fabric of Jerusalem. The Armenian community in Jerusalem has survived genocide, exile, and erasure — and yet is still, against all odds, here. Still building. Still protecting. Still Armenian.

Kan 11 owes the Armenian people an immediate public apology.
