0.129 to 0.138% BAC. The claim is that programmers write their best code inside that window...loose enough to stop second guessing, sharp enough to still hold the whole system in their head. Step outside it in either direction and you're worse. The window is narrow and the fall off the far side is a cliff.

People have genuinely tried to test it, and the reason the idea won't die is that the underlying curve is real. A small dose quiets the part of your brain that's monitoring you, and being monitored is what makes you tighten up.

Which is why alcohol was a banned substance in archery and shooting.... inherently not for strength. It was for steadiness. It's enough to drop your pulse and fire between heartbeats. Calm was such an advantage they outlawed it.

So every sport has its own peak. The question is just where the window sits, and whether it exists at all for your respective task.

The chunky wood butcher block in 1980s kitchens disappeared because of a government recommendation that had zero science behind it.

In the early 90s, food microbiologist Dean Cliver asked the USDA for the evidence behind their advice to ditch wood for plastic. They admitted they had none. So he ran the test himself.

He contaminated wood and plastic boards with E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria. Three minutes later, 99.9% of the bacteria on the wood was dead. The wood's pores pull bacteria beneath the surface, where they can't survive.

Plastic went the other way. Left overnight at room temperature, the bacteria multiplied. And knife-scarred plastic was nearly impossible to sanitize, even in a dishwasher. Every cut creates a groove where bacteria hide from your sponge.

The thickness wasn't decoration either. Those blocks were end grain, wood fibers standing vertical, so the knife slides between fibers instead of cutting across them and the surface heals itself. That construction only holds together as a thick slab. Slice it thin and it cracks.

Cliver repeated the results across nine hardwoods, maple to walnut. Same outcome every time.

The butcher block was self-sanitizing and built to outlive the house. America threw it out for the board that grows bacteria overnight.

On July 21st, 2026, NBC News reported that Republican Florida Congressman Cory Mills was under criminal investigation by the Department of Justice.

Like virtually every federal investigation, this one began with a single suspect before expanding to include others.

A government whistleblower who approached my campaign has confirmed that this investigation has expanded to include U.S. Congressman Byron Donalds, who along with Cory Mills, is under investigation for federal sex trafficking.

Federal prosecutors are looking at two dates in question: May 17th, 2024, and November 19th, 2024, dates when Congressmen Mills and Donalds are said to have traveled to the MGM National Harbor—a luxury hotel resort in Oxon Hill, Maryland, where they solicited, procured, and paid women for explicit sexual acts.

In the coming hours, Byron Donalds will call this investigation a “political attack.” It’s not. The Department of Justice, led by a Trump appointee of the same political party as Byron Donalds, is not investigating him for “political reasons.”

They are investigating him because there is credible evidence that he committed a serious crime.

My campaign was approached by a whistleblower who provided details that only someone with direct knowledge of a federal investigation could know.

In fact, this whistleblower informed us that Cory Mills was under federal investigation before it was publicly reported by NBC News on July 21, 2026, as evidenced by this letter (attached) to the DOJ that was sent on July 20, 2026 that detailed the existence of the investigation into Cory Mills and Byron Donalds.

My legal team has spent weeks attempting to independently verify this investigation, and we have done just that.

For example, text messages (attached) sent from Cory Mills himself to a third party confirm that he and Congressman Byron Donalds were both at the MGM Harbor on both of the dates that are now the focus of federal prosecutors.

Before I came here today, I tried every possible avenue to clear and exonerate Congressman Donalds, including reviewing a letter from a former federal prosecutor who asked the Department of Justice to confirm whether “any component of the Department of Justice is currently investigating or has investigated” Byron Donalds.

And they refused to comment.

They refused to do so despite clearing Florida Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna of any criminal conduct in a letter just two weeks ago.

Let me be crystal clear: Our Constitution entitles Congressmen Mills and Donalds to the presumption of innocence. But while they deserve that presumption, voters deserve transparency.

I specifically gave Congressman Donalds the opportunity to make the fact he is under investigation public. But he chose not to.

This is the first and last time I will discuss this publicly. My campaign will not run any television ads or mailers detailing any of this because this is not political. It's about transparency for Florida voters.

Anthropic hired the former head of Google Books partnerships to obtain "all the books in the world."

My Take
This got to me. A bookseller told 404 Media that rare books with almost no surviving copies are being fed into this pipeline. Books that survived wars, fires, and centuries of handling are being shredded so an AI can learn to write a better marketing email.
ISBNdb's website literally says "'AI company destroys two million books' is not a headline that generates sympathy," and they still built an entire business around making it happen quietly. They offer NDAs as a feature. They coach clients to call it "digital preservation."

I've covered AI companies scraping the internet, torrenting libraries, and stealing music. This is worse because it's irreversible. You can re-upload a website. You can reprint a bestseller. You can't replace the last three copies of an 18th-century botanical text once someone shreds them for training data. And the judge said it's legal. So it's going to accelerate.
"We shred rare books and offer NDAs so nobody finds out" is a legitimate business model in 2026. What a timeline.
