Hopefully we will hear Jill Underly‘s remarks on whether seclusion and restraint incidents went down in #Wisconsin schools during 2024-2025. Ms. Underly has a duty to be transparent to all of Wisconsin, not when it’s politically convenient to her.

School boards across the Badger State are disclosing their seclusion and restraint reports. Amery, in Northwest Wisconsin, has a reported an increase on the record.

Without clear messaging from the head of public education in Wisconsin, we are left to guess if these harmful practices are going down. Seclusion and restraint incidents went up during 2023-2024. Ms. Underly has an obligation to all Wisconsinites to say if her administration has reduced seclusion and restraint incidents.

The lack of transparency from Wisconsin‘s public education department is alarming. Our families deserve better.

DCFS is a black mark on the Pritzker Administration in #Illilnois. Too many #neurodivergent children in the Land of Lincoln have been failed by a system that lacks leadership. Maybe DCFS should be transparent with Illinoisans for a change.

Pritzker and DCFS promised answers for why they have refused judge orders and FOIAs to produce documents in the heartbreaking Mackenzi Felmlee case. They gave none.

Under Pritzker's DCFS, more than 1,200 of our most vulnerable children have died since 2018. And few seem to care.

We must fix DCFS. These kids deserve better.

While returning home from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner tonight, the plane I was traveling in lost power as we approached the Wausau Downtown Airport. The pilot made an emergency water landing in Lake Wausau.

After landing, we called 911. As the plane began to submerge, we exited the aircraft and swam to a shallow area, where we waited until emergency responders reached us by boat.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to the pilot, the Wausau Fire Department, and all of the first responders who came to our aid so quickly. They got us safely off the water and transported us to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where we received excellent care. Thankfully, both the pilot and I sustained only minor injuries.

God was watching over us tonight, and I am incredibly grateful to be here in the hospital with my wife, Chris, by my side. An experience like this reminds you just how precious life is.

"Wisconsin Statute 118.305 Pupil Restraint and Seclusion prohibits the use of seclusion or physical restraint by school staff except in very limited circumstances where a student’s behavior presents a clear, present, and imminent risk to the physical safety of students or school staff and it is the least restrictive intervention feasible."

Last week, Wisconsin's autism community called on our State School Superintendent to release the 2024-25 numbers of incidents as required by law. These families and the public deserve to know what is going on in our schools. Jill Underly owes them transparency.
