Teachers, want to take something off your plate? Put HW in the trash. Especially for elementary, let students go home, run, play, and enjoy being a child. And read a little after playing. Then they come to school recharged instead of stressed out and you will too!

Sad to hear of Jerry Rice’s passing yesterday. Mr Jerry was very influential in district 5 his whole life! He served in our schools and he served our kids with a willing heart and big smile! He didn’t talk about it, he definitely didn’t social media about it, he just did it👊🏼

If school districts would take time to ask teachers, if you were to think about leaving, what would it take for you to stay. They would quickly find what they need to focus on to improve teachers working conditions.

Homework does little to improve achievement and can actually have negative effects, especially at elementary level. Recess however has many positive effects such as improved self regulation of emotions, improved interpersonal skills and focus! And should never be taken away.

One of the best retention strategies for a school is an administration who takes care of their staff. Not only will they not want to leave, but others will want to work there.
