@CurlyJungleJake It’s escalation as a result of the citizens leaving, schools closing, etc. Now the people who stay behind are likely combatants, so all targets are fair (in their minds). It’s incomprehensible and tragic.
@AdamJKucharski Depends if you are asking about vaccine immunity or infection driven immunity. Infection driven immunity would have a much broader range of targets for both cell and humoral immunity, but not likely as potent for neutralization. Spike protein vaccine approaches, not so much
@GANyborg@mistaketake @Folkehelseinst @jonasgahrstore@ingvildkjerkol Also, the field moves so quickly it’s hard to keep up. Our primary goal for the sVNT was to screen chemical libraries and find drug leads. And we are now working on our best lead in a mouse model (it was potent in cellulo)
@GANyborg@mistaketake @Folkehelseinst @jonasgahrstore@ingvildkjerkol We did a small study of neutralizing abs in infected vs vaccinated and also found the vaccinated groups had higher and much more consistent neutralizing antibodies after 2 doses. At 1 dose, the neutralizing antibodies were highly variable.
@GANyborg@mistaketake @Folkehelseinst @jonasgahrstore@ingvildkjerkol It was done using a surrogate virus neutralization test we made using spike from the first variant. We didn’t publish as it was more of a curiosity about the vaccine response. We’ve thought about doing the same test with the various voc but we just don’t have the time.
@jbroderi0825 @amanda__pei @LouiseMartinCBC Its hard to adjust course when the government has said for 2 years that SARS-CoV-2 is a killer virus and then suddenly changes it to "Ok, send your unvaccinated kids to school, the pandemic is over" just as the case counts actually rise. Communication fail.
