We are protesting outside the FCDO next Wednesday to demand the UK government open the Afghan citizens resettlement scheme ⬇️
Right now, Afghan citizens are in danger under the Taliban rule and are about to face a humanitarian crisis - this government must act now 📢
Please join us today at 2pm PT / 5pm ET, for a panel event centering Afghan Experiences of Humanitarian Parole One Year Later, alongside @aaawa_art and @project_anar

Horrific news made even worse when you consider that there is effectively no health care system capacity and that many of those impacted were already cheating death given the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
On @bbc5live today, Conservative MP @mikejwood says Ukrainian refugees 'don't need to put their lives into the hands of people smugglers' because they have safe routes available to reach the UK. DA spokesperson Graeme McGregor points out that people being sent to #Rwanda do not.
They are victims of torture & persecution seeking refuge - they cannot return home but are terrified of being sent to Rwanda. They are fighting for their lives we must fight on outside too. #Rwanda50#StopThePlane demand @RwandaParliamnt@RwandaGov DROP THE DEAL! (2/2)
Update from #Rwanda50 detainees in Brook Hse - refusing to go back inside - say they will stay outside for 3 days in protest. detainees from Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Syria - say home office trying to force them 2go home or b sent to Rwanda - this is no choice #StopThePlane (1/2)
We no longer have a refugee protection system.
We have a refugee punishment system.
Deporting 15 refugees (likely Syrians) to Rwanda because they dared to seek safety on our shores is the beginning of the #AntiRefugeeLaws being put into action.

British Hazaras in #London organised a candlelight vigil to commemorate the victims of last year’s terrorist attack on Sayed Al-Shuhada school. As Lina Folad did as in this video, they also asked @HouseofCommons to recognise Hazara genocide & act to stop it. #StopHazaraGenocide
Taliban’s apparent goals:
1) Erase women and girls entirely from public life; and
2) Make women and girls wards and property of their male relatives, with no autonomy.
How the world responds has implications for women’s rights everywhere on the planet. https://t.co/A9hcnq6Ry4
Brilliant piece by @KnoxThames. In span of 10 days in April, terrorists launched 5 attacks against Hazaras; 2 education institutions, bombing of a mosque, two different bombs targeting buses & five Hazaras were pulled from a car & murdered. https://t.co/oYZGmu04aB
Face veils for women now mandatory in Afghanistan… if a woman doesn’t comply:
- their male guardian visited at home
If still doesn’t comply
- their male guardian will be summoned to the Ministry of Vice & Virtue
Then
- guardian taken to court
- guardian jailed for 3 days
Last night we disrupted @pritipatel because her #Rwandaplan is cruel, morally bankrupt & it will cost lives.
We demand the Government drops this widely condemned policy & provides support for people seeking safety.
No matter where we come from, we all deserve dignity & respect
