He's clearly recognised that Labour has haemorrhaged support due to its complicity with Israel's genocide, but if he thinks this is enough to stem the flow he's deluded.
Harking back, and apologising for the failure to call for a ceasefire is one thing, but the anger at Labour is rooted in its ongoing active support for a genocide , beginning with the failure to even recognise the reality of that genocide.
Burnham suggests that war crimes may have been committed but this is for the courts to determine. That is an extraordinary position in the face of the copious evidence of clear crimes. Burnham has no problem calling out war crimes in Ukraine despite no court ruling. He relies on the reports of credible bodies and the evidence of his own eyes.
It is predictable but nonetheless shameful that in a statement about Israel's appalling treatment of Palestinians he feels the need to state his opposition to antisemitism, implicitly suggesting that this is required before any call for Israel to be held to account.
2 weeks ago the UN commission of enquiry produced a harrowing and forensic report documenting Israel's deliberate targeting of Palestinian children as an aspect of its genocidal policies. It set clear recommendations for all UK member States. Adherence to these will be the test of Burnham's commitment to restore a policy rooted in respect for rights and the application of IHL.
1. End all arms trade with Israel.
2. Introduce comprehensive sanctions.
3. Arrest all of those who come to your terrain who have been Indicted at ICC
4. Prosecute any individual or corporation in your terrain that is complicit in supporting Israel's crimes.
As an addition end all repressive actions against those protesting genocide.
That's for starters. Burnham promises change. As so often Palestine will be the litmus test.
Reform UK supporters are asking 'who funds Count Binface?' The short answer is, not a Thailand-based crypto billionaire. And not a guy who was banged up for offering to launder money for a coke cartel.
What on earth are you talking about?
You were literally in Cabinet while the UK continued to sell weapons that were used in the systematic killing of thousands of Palestinians.
You don’t get to rewrite history. Blood is on your hands too.
The US-UK Pharma deal “is an abject failure of the democratic process and a damning legacy both for Keir Starmer and for Wes Streeting”
“Happy birthday, USA: we’ll kill our poor people to make your rich companies richer”

Here's what the landlord lobby don't want you to know:
If rents went down by 20%, renters would save £2400 a year. The government would save £2 billion a year.
And landlords would still make 4.5 times as much profit as the average business.
A compilation of how senior Labour figures refused to support the upholding of international law as Israel killed 10,000 Palestinians during the first month of bombing👇
None of what Lowe says here is true but Rogan, paid millions by Spotify and listened to by millions, just says ‘woah’ and offers no rebuttal or even basic factcheck. Talk about inciting Islamophobia and bigotry.
Let's be clear, the Labour Government didn't get it wrong after Oct 7th, like picking up the wrong fork at dinner. They aided and abetted a genocide of Palestinians by Israel.
Thank you, Channel 4 News, for taking seriously the shameful case of Israel's abduction of Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, and sharing exclusive footage from the day of his abduction, December 27, 2024.
In September, my Gaza (Independent Inquiry) Bill returns to Parliament.
Its purpose: to uncover the full scale of British complicity in genocide.
The next Prime Minister has a simple choice: will they support this inquiry, or will they block our efforts to expose the truth?
I don’t want more weapons, I want better public services, publicity-owned utilities, more council housing, better standard of living for people on low pay, benefits and pensions, better climate action and environment quality.
Starmer leaves office haunted by prospect he will face prosecution for abetting a genocide if ICJ rules against Israel. In my new column for Middle East Eye I argue that Burnham’s biggest incentive to change policy over Gaza is to keeps his hands clean:

This is infuriating crap.
He says:
“There's increasing evidence that war crimes appear to have been committed.”
He knows Israel has committed war crimes on an industrial scale.
He’s refusing to say so because it would impose legal obligations on him to actually act.
Andy lad.
Get off Starmer’s fence.
You either accept the evidence before your own eyes, or you don’t.
There is no ‘appear’ about it.
Genocide. War crimes.
Say it.
Can Burnham say that war crimes, let alone genocide, has occurred in Gaza?
Being clear on this is the most basic first step.
Without this, Labour hasn't even started its journey to rectifying for years of complicity and participation in this genocide.
Nigel Farage is the epitome of the establishment.
He makes millions at the expense of the poorest, while blaming the most vulnerable to protect his wealth and power.
We cannot afford a society that feeds the expensive ego of Nigel Farage. Clacton deserves better.
The man who carried out the 2017 Finsbury Park mosque terror attack, Darren Osborne, who was also a Tommy Robinson supporter, was planning to assassinate Jeremy Corbyn. Members of the British Army also used Corbyn's picture for target practice.
Nigel Farage had a milkshake thrown at him.
