A late night reflection.

Masa student (circa 2006), rajin baca lowyat tgk org lain dpt 5 fig umur brapa. Ada yang 28, ada yg 30. O&G lah. Big 4 lah.

When I finally broke into 5 fig, rasa cam dah abes perform dah. Like wow - made it.

My parents dulu keje gomen - 5 figure tu seemed soo far away (in those days).

The thing about dreams is that sometimes you tend to feel lost when you finally reached it. Like - what's next?

I realized then that setting goals based on other people's expectation gets me nowhere.

Nowadays I feel much better to just focus on myself, focus on being a better version of myself everyday, every year.

Focusing to be a better worker, a better father, a better muslim.

It's awesome to learn that everyone's striving for high salaries etc. And I admire that Hisyam is sharing his journey in the public - coz awareness can help motivate people.

Suddenly there's a light. It's like "hey - bende ni achievable lah".

But I also acknowledge that for those without a clear line of sight - it can be a tad depressing when you read all of this in your timeline.

Time and time again however, I'm reminded that rizq from Allah comes in many forms.

A caring family, healthy children, peace of mind, friendly neighbours.

We tend to forget about these things at times as we focus too much on life. On others.

I hope people will learn to take it easy somewhat. You don't need to be that 17 y.o tech lead. You don't need to earn 5 fig by 30. You don't need to have kids who excels at everything they touch.

Just focus on improving yourself. In whatever way you see fit. Get that small win. And move on to the next.
