@HereInThere@peterboghossian I've spent 20+ years as leftist and I no longer recognize us. The left no longer believes in peace and unity. The general left says peace and unity with the RW is not possible anymore, and anyone on the left who still believes in peace and unity, is labeled a MAGA apologist.
@notsotroubled I mean to be fair if you're not expecting that to be in a romantic comedy, I can see why that would be upsetting. Making fun of people's triggers isn't cool.
@pelositracker I mean you could have also left earlier. Everyone who is getting on a flight should be aware by now that the lines are LONG. If you're still in line when your flight leaves in 16 minutes, you f'd up.
@dabitcoinn@TheCinesthetic Not really. I used to work at a nursing home and we had a resident with Tourettes and every woman who walked by he would call a sexist slur and every non white person who walked by he used a racial slur. He had Alzheimer's as well as Tourette's, he had no idea what he was doing.
@sues86453 I'm a leftist and it's been really sad to see my side descend deeper and deeper into total madness. This is not what I signed up for when I registered as a Dem 20 years ago.
@gdalton64@CStewartNews@LawCrimeNetwork If they were on cordial terms, he probably was entrusted with their security information and may still have even been an emergency contact for her. No forced entry, so either he had a key or the passcode. 8/10 murders are committed by someone who the victim knew and trusted.
@lunar_britney Getting "free shit" for so long = peak entitlement to complain about losing it. But I used his DLC unlocker for 10 yrs and will lose my save file I've had since 2015. I can't afford the legit game. Game + packs cost a mortgage payment. Guess my game is staying at Patch 119.102 :(
@ML3democrats Unfortunately the Dems made a huge mistake by not giving the people a chance to choose. The reason she lost wasn't because Trump was better. She lost because a large number of registered Democrat voters sat out the 2024 election.
@Ohfoohy@Claus_trophobe@askaya@jk_rowling Killing a fascist is not how it works in the US either. But here we are, debating about it, apparently. Read the OP I was replying to. OP is the one who compared the death of CK to the US military k1lling N@zis in WW2.
@coopertas5518 @Claus_trophobe@askaya@jk_rowling My point exactly. It's not illegal for him to be a fascist. It is, however, illegal to murder a fascist in the US. Read the OP I was replying to. OP is the one who compared the death of CK to the US military k1lling N@zis in WW2.
@jk_rowling Preach!
The witch hunts must stop. Here in the states you cant voice sympathy for the Kirk family or else you're labeled Fascist. As a lifelong leftist I don't recognize the left anymore. Many lefties are so far up their own ass they think their views are the only correct ones.
@Kasbar_G Anyone outside of Google's space can write these definitions. AI gathers algorithm information from a variety of sources.
There's a thumbs-down icon on the corner and if you click it, it will give you a list of options for negative feedback, and click "Offensive/unsafe."
@Claus_trophobe@askaya@jk_rowling Define fascist. Whether he was a fascist or not was a matter of your own personal opinion. He was never tried or charged as a fascist, therefore in the eyes of the law he was not a fascist, he was a person practicing his free speech when he was murdered by an angry confused loon
@_The_Prophet__@jk_rowling I'm an historian for a living, I cannot agree with this enough.
And everyone will tell you you're wrong, or doomposting. I have literally studied this, as part of my job.
We barely survived the first civil war. We won't survive a second one.
This isn’t just about Kirk or Rowling. It’s about the phase shift we’re entering. The West has crossed the invisible threshold where politics stops being about persuasion and starts being about domination. That’s why Rowling’s taxonomy hits so hard right now - because it isn’t theory anymore. It’s the lived reality.
The Kirk assassination proves that political violence is now part of the grammar. Once that happens, you don’t go back. Systems don’t rewind to civility. They escalate. Every side interprets restraint as weakness. Every act of violence becomes both revenge and pretext.
And here’s the mask-off truth: this was always where liberal democracy was heading. Once truth itself fractured into tribes, the system had no stabilizer. Narrative became stronger than fact, and reflexivity guaranteed acceleration. Violence is just the material form of that breakdown.
So no, this isn’t isolated. This isn’t random. This is systemic inevitability. Kirk’s killing wasn’t just one man dying. It was the signal that persuasion is dead as the dominant mode of politics. The new mode is force, intimidation, spectacle. The “possessed” framing is closer to reality than people realize. Whole segments of the population are locked in memetic possession loops where no evidence can reach them. They’re no longer persuadable, only combustible.
The truth I can’t dress up: this is how republics die. Not overnight, not with one assassination, but with the normalization of the idea that violence is politics by other means. We’re in it now. And once you’re here, the center never holds.
