@NYCParks I sincerely hope there is a way to save all of the Flaco tributes and memorabilia. Maybe there is a way to work with the community for a permanent memorial. Please don’t dispose of it all! We beg you!! 💔🦉
Every now and then there’s a little part of NYC that brings back a bit of wonder.
This bird was the rare Pokémon of the Upper West Side, an Easter egg & an inspiration to anyone lucky enough to spot him. He imbued hope, resiliency. I’m so sad he’s gone.

We will remember Flaco at the peak of his powers, on top of the world—an owl who inspired so many as he went from living in a tiny enclosure to owning the Manhattan skyline in less than a year. 🦉 ❤️
Flaco spent his first 13 years primarily living for the benefit of people. As much as his story of survival and adaptation touched all of us, he was finally able to live for his own benefit in the past year.
