NITI Aayog convened a National Level Consultative Meeting on “Development of Institutional Research Translation Score” in collaboration with Foundation for Advancing Science and Technology (FAST) India on 6 May 2026 at NITI Bhawan, New Delhi.

The meeting brought together Directors, Senior Scientists and Heads of Business Development Groups from leading R&D institutions under CSIR, DBT, DST, DoS and DAE to deliberate on a robust framework for assessing institutional research translation readiness.

Prof. Vivek Kumar Singh, Senior Adviser (S&T), NITI Aayog, highlighted the importance of a structured framework to assess institutional research translation readiness and outcomes. Mr. Sheel Kapoor, CEO, FAST India, presented the proposed framework built around four pillars: Translation Outputs, Translation Pathways, Industry Collaborations, and Leadership & Culture.

Dr. V. K. Saraswat emphasised the need for clearly defined qualitative indicators to strengthen the assessment framework. The discussions also highlighted the importance of stronger industry–academia–government collaboration to advance innovation, research translation and technology commercialisation.

CSIR-IIIM Jammu Signs MoU with ICMR-NIV

CSIR–IIIM Jammu has joined hands with ICMR-NIV, Pune to strengthen collaboration in research, outbreak investigation, diagnostics, and training in public health and virology.

The partnership will enable joint research projects, academic exchanges, and capacity-building programs, enhancing disease surveillance, diagnostic capabilities, and scientific expertise in North India.

CSIR-IIIM, Jammu hosted the Industry–Academia Meet (IAM-2026), bringing together scientists, industry leaders and regulators to advance phytopharmaceutical innovation and lab-to-market partnerships.

The inaugural session was graced by Chief Guest Padma Shri Prof. V.K. Singh, Guest of Honour Dr. C.K. Katiyar, and Director CSIR-IIIM Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, whose insights highlighted the importance of translational research, regulatory clarity and industry collaboration in natural product drug discovery.

Day 1 featured expert lectures, knowledge-sharing sessions and dialogue on sustainable sourcing, quality validation, regulatory pathways and innovation-driven partnerships, setting a strong foundation for impactful collaborations.
The event also witnessed the signing of MoUs with industry partners to strengthen collaborative research and accelerate clinical translation.

Yuva Kaushal Karyashala 3.0 – Day 2 Highlights | CSIR-IIIM Jammu

The second day of the hands-on fermentation training programme at CSIR–IIIM, Jammu focused on practical skills in microbial isolation and fermentation processes.
Students participated in:
•Isolation of microorganisms using Serial Dilution, Pour Plate, and Spread Plate methods
•Cleaning and sterilization of laboratory-scale fermentors
•Inoculation and initiation of fermentation
•Real-time monitoring of fermentation parameters
The programme continues to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry-relevant biotechnology skills, empowering young scientists for future research and entrepreneurship in fermentation technology.
