Six-year-old Shantel Nekesa has been missing since Monday, May 18, 2026, after she was abducted by an unidentified man in Kamuthanga Village, Sagana, Kirinyaga County.On the evening of May 18, Shantel had just returned from school and changed out of her uniform when the suspect approached her. Her mother, Cynthia Wambui, was away at a local hospital attending to another child at the time. CCTV footage captured the man walking with the young girl at approximately 6:16 PM. He had deliberately concealed his face.The suspect stopped at a nearby shop owned by Madeline Njoki, where he bought two cakes for Shantel. According to the shopkeeper, the child did not raise any alarm because the man claimed he was taking her to buy a book. The pair were last seen walking along the upper road leading out of the village.The family immediately reported the incident at Sagana Police Station. Detectives have launched a manhunt and are actively analyzing available CCTV footage, but the suspect’s identity remains unknown and no major breakthroughs have been reported so far.
