@USMCgatorvet Didn’t vote yes on it. Just saying, based on current estimated forecast, not going to be surprised to see them expand the use of tourism development tax, raising that as well, allowing the sales tax to be raised, and other fees.
@CapeMayMeg@TheGhostofVince@Planter5657 I'm not seeing a significant increase. It's like 1 to 2%... that's what again person pays on a hotel when they're visiting Disney or Clearwater Beach
@CapeMayMeg@TheGhostofVince@Planter5657 Technically raising this bed tax wouldn't be seen as a bad thing by either political side. Because it's what people pay on a hotel stay and Florida's rates are very low compared to other tourist destinations.
So I can see the legislature maybe allowing people to tap into that.
@ettingermentum How did it skip over?
Beg to differ.
Multiple state legislative seats were flipped, county commission was flipped in some places.
Victory looks like different things to different people. Just because it’s not upfront, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
@jimdrix8@yesh222 Oh, I would actually say this is a huge shift, but it may not be in the waste most people think.
State legislative seats and county commission races in pivotal counties.. more down ballot but it’s still matters
@t013090@PoliHorizon@ZacharyDonnini Still have down ballot effects wouldn't be shocked if certain state senate/house seats and county commission seats across the state are flipped
@ItsDGenerator This is actually already emerging in parts of Florida.
I recall seeing a video from a a political rally and one of the attendees brought it up
@TreyceJonesWX@AndyHazelton Florida is the gold standard for counting votes.
And it’s not partisan either. Whether it’s Tallahassee or Okeechobee, elections are run very well here
@DerekS859@umichvoter I mean, they did win in 2018. Not the governor ship or the Senate seat but Nikki Fried won by by like 5000 votes and they flipped a number of state legislative and federal representative seats.
