Clark had the opportunity to help JHU transform the old Newseum into an academic building that brings all of the university’s Washington, D.C.-based students, faculty, and staff under one roof, creating more opportunities for interaction and collaboration.

Located blocks from the Capitol, the building increases the university’s ability to bring its research and expertise to national and global conversations and debates. 

Fast Facts:

- The building includes 38 high-tech classrooms, a 375-seat theatre, numerous areas of group and individual study space, lounges, and several roof terraces, with views of Pennsylvania Avenue and the Capitol grounds.

- Construction demolition required surgical precision. To remove existing structures while maintaining the structural integrity of the building, demolition required the installation of 1 million pounds of bracing and shoring.

- Of the 20,000 tons of material crews removed from the building during construction, nearly 97 percent was recycled. #ClarkBuildsDC
