there's no way mclaren just blamed lando's pace deficit on 'general pace' and the medium tyre when he's getting eaten alive on the straights AND dealing with a fuel injection issue that's clearly costing him even more straightline speed
whatever anyone thinks about lando saying that drivers who cause incidents like this should face a race ban, there is no justification whatsoever for the amount of hate being directed at him right now.
he was taken out of the race through an incident that he had nothing to do with. and given the circumstances, of course he was frustrated. mclaren have been stressing how important it was to have a smooth weekend with the new big upgrade package and lando said himself that parts of the car were "in the bin." we don't know what that means for their spare parts situation going into the rest of the triple header, but losing a newly upgraded car through an incident like this is obviously going to be frustrating.
lando's comment about race bans is harsh but it also didn't come out of nowhere. for one, it came straight after the race, when adrenaline is still high, and for two, this isn't just about what happened with franco today. it comes after many occasions where he's been caught up in dnfs caused by other drivers, so it was clearly coming from a wider frustration rather than just this one incident, especially given the state of his newly upgraded car today.
but regardless of how people feel about his comment, what's happening in his comments and it goes as far as his fanpages, is completely unacceptable. going from 2k comments before the race to over 13k within 3 hours and counting, with so many of them being vile and abusive is targeted harassment and there's no justification for it.
it’s getting uncomfortable how often drivers’ families get dragged into fan wars and targeted with hate, especially when they’ve done nothing but be there to support their family.
also wishing crashes on drivers is already out of line, but tagging their parents is completely out of line. some boundaries shouldn’t need explaining.
rookie lando & rookie kimi speaking about their mental struggles, 6 years apart. their words sound so similar that if you didn’t know any better you’d never be able to tell who said what ❤️🩹 i admire them so much for speaking up about something so vulnerable
So this is just straight up bad - don’t understand what they’re trying to do when it’s been proven across multiple sports that female fans are interested in the main product already?
You don’t need to dumb down or girl-ify sport to gain female fans…
