Erase what? The average Caribbean and African here today wasn’t here prior to 1965. And while there were (especially with Caribbeans) individuals that participated in our movements pre-1965, there is no role so pivotal that they played, that without their presence, Black American history would have been altered in any fundamental way. Let me ask you a question, do you believe, that without West Indian immigration to the United States, that Civil Rights for example wouldn’t have happened? What about our music, our food, our over all culture? Would those things not exist if West Indians hadn’t immigrated and it was only ethnic Black Americans?
