@IANdrewDiceClay It’s a shame he wasn’t doing the voice acting for it during the WCW. Tony bugging him to say “they’re great” every show. The crowd chanting “Tony, Tony” every time he stood up. Hall and Nash would of had a field day.
Banana guys have always been and always will be cringe but getting upset about a banana guy at a show where shirtless guys do fake karate moves to impress other shirtless guys is so funny to me.
In WCW DDP turned face so he could back heel in a more dramatic fashion. Randy Savage is a face but aligned with DDP. Nash is a face but the rest of the nWo are still heels. I don’t think anyone, including the man himself, knows where Roddy Piper stands. And Buff is a face now.
I’m officially in May 1999 so here is the heel/face updates. In WWF The Rock, Big Show, Test & Ken Shamrock turned face. Undertaker went too far so now he’s a heel & Vince McMahon is a face. Mr. Ass turned on the face DX and joined the heel version. Shane McMahon is the top heel

Last time I went to Raw there was a guy in Jim Cornette shirt and before he sat down he let us know he didn’t really care about the women wrestlers. Thanks, pal. I’ll keep that in mind.
Cornette and Hogan are in the same boat to me. I’m always going to be a fan of their work. The real life stuff is whatever to me. BUT if I see someone wearing their merch in public I’m thinking “hey you really should not be doing that.”

@DevonDude_ That’s a fair assessment. The WCW storylines are all over the place. Whereas Raw is fairly consistent. That’s why they ultimately won. Nitro is better as a one off most weeks but Raw gives you more reasons to stay invested long term.
In terms of show quality WCW & WWF are a lot closer than people would lead you to believe. WWF has Austin & Rock. That’s why they are ahead in the ratings. But other than their stuff WWF is borderline unwatchable at times. The worst thing on Nitro will be a boring match
@JimTresselJunr It so weird because the TV is so bad early in the year and goes off the rails in the summer. But for that one month there were like “hey let’s be a real wrestling promotion again.”
Yea a lot of weeks on Nitro the top guy are in the show’s way. They are having to work around Flair/Hogan/Piper etc instead of building around the guys people want. But with Raw you could close your eyes until you hear the glass break and not miss anything.
@ageofthefever WCW had an incredible depth in their undercard. The best matches always came from the Luchadors, the Cruiserweights and the Tag Teams.
The same could not be said of WWE at the time, where the best matches nearly all were at the top of the card.
@JimTresselJunr I’m in April 1999. I’m aware that era has a lot of bad stuff. I lived through it. But WWF in that era has a lot of long HHH talking segments. So I’d probably still give the edge to Nitro.
