My idea of politics is simple: say less, do more.

Don’t make endless promises, recommendations and suggestions. Get things done. People may forget what you said, but they will remember what you actually did.

That’s why many politicians and political parties eventually disappear from people’s minds, too much talking, too little delivery.

Politics should be about action, results and people.

And above all, never disconnect from the grassroots. Stay on the streets, listen to communities, understand their problems and remember why you entered politics in the first place.

The latest PISA results for Wales have created a lot of debate. But the issue we are facing is much more fundamental, and frankly, it upsets me that some politicians still don’t seem to understand what is actually going on.

We keep looking for someone to blame. Blaming each other will not solve the problem. We need to look at ourselves and address the root causes.

If around one in three children in Wales are living in poverty, we cannot simply expect every child to achieve excellent educational outcomes without addressing the circumstances they grow up in.

Education doesn’t start at the school gate. It starts at home. It starts in the early years, with family support, nutrition, stability, parental engagement and a child’s environment.

This isn’t simply about putting more money into education. Funding matters, but money alone will not fix a fundamental problem. We need leadership, accountability and a long-term approach that supports children from the very beginning.

Always good to have a debate, especially when friends disagree. 😂😉
People often misunderstand planned economies. Look at china, it used strong economic planning to transform itself from a devastated, extremely poor country into one of the world’s strongest economies. Today it combines state planning with market forces.
I genuinely believe more countries will start looking again at planned or mixed economies rather than relying entirely on the market economy.

GDP per capita no longer tells the full story. It measures an average while hiding huge inequality. a small minority can have enormous wealth while many people struggle with low wages and rising living costs. We need to look beyond GDP focus on median incomes, wealth inequality, poverty and living standards.

And we need a clear economic goal: rebuild a strong, secure middle class and make sure prosperity reaches ordinary working people.

For Wales to attract more international investment, the WG needs a much stronger presence on the international stage. The UK Government attracts investment, but too much of it ends up in London, Birmingham and Manchester. Wales needs to be more visible and actively promote itself as a place for investment and new opportunities.
We cannot rely only on local businesses. We need investment across every sector — agriculture, farming, energy, technology and AI — to build a stronger and more stable Welsh economy.
