Proud to be an American.
True patriotism is defending the Constitution, protecting our democracy, and striving for liberty and justice for all.
Our country has never been perfect, but its promise is worth protecting.
Happy 4th of July. ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
CNN: Have you lived the American dream yourself?
Mamdani: I think that I'm living one of them. And I think the beautiful thing about today is it's a chance to celebrate that the promise of our nation is still true. That promise of opportunity, of freedom, of self-determination, and to be the mayor of our city today, it's something more than I could ever ask for.
CNN: You jumped into a pool with a full suit on. What's with the full suit? Why not some shorts or, you know, some trunks?
Mamdani: I think I misunderstood the term swimsuit.
About “B’Day” Beyoncé told Blender Magazine in 2006:
"I make black records…I don't try to change my songs so everyone else likes them.”
which caused a backlash resulting in a 70% sales drop the next week. The acts being a reclamation of Black music, perhaps this ties in.
Happy Independence Day!
Today I am thinking of all who have worked — and still do — to make our nation one that more fully lives up to our ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all. Uptown and the Bronx carry that legacy. Our neighborhoods were made by people who were promised nothing and organized for everything.
A more perfect union is possible, but it is on us to achieve it.
Happy 250, USA.
Cardi B talks about how black americans fought for equality and should be thanked for it + how history is currently trying to be erased from schools today on CNN News.
🔵 Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez dined with Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier, the two DSA members headed to Congress after toppling the Democratic machine in last month’s New York primaries, at Himalayan Yak, a Tibetan and Nepali institution in Jackson Heights in the heart of AOC’s Queens district.
🔸The dinner signals a growing embrace: AOC endorsed neither during the primary, declining to cross Nydia Velázquez, her mentor, whose preferred successor Valdez defeated by more than 20 points, or her colleague Adriano Espaillat, the Hispanic Caucus chair Avila Chevalier unseated.
🔸But she has defended both forcefully since, telling party colleagues attacking Avila Chevalier’s old social media posts: “If you are already panicking and sending little messages in your group chats about how these people need to be reined in and tamped down and shown their place, you are creating the antagonistic dynamic that we do not need.”
🔸“These are two young, talented, intelligent women that got elected against all odds, against millions of dollars,” she said. “Perhaps there is something we can learn from them.”
This why I appreciate how Beyoncé moves. She knows you can never please everyone. She’ll get you on the next release seems to be her mentality and it’s smart.
Here’s the thing about the R&B discourse, don’t let these idiots trick you into defending a position that isn’t true. Beyoncé still does R&B music, she just doesn’t do it the way they feel she should.
