हमने वहां हिंदू भाइयों के साथ एकता और भाईचारे पर एक कार्यक्रम करने के लिए पुलिस से अनुमति मांगी, लेकिन हमें अनुमति नहीं दी जा रही है। दूसरी तरफ, मुंबई पुलिस दूसरों को वहां भाषण करने की अनुमति दे रही है। एक तरफ किरीट सोमैया जाकर मुसलमानों को चैलेंज कर रहे हैं, दूसरी तरफ नितेश राणे यह कह रहे हैं कि गोल टोपी और मुसलमानों के त्योहारों पर हम सोचेंगे - यह कहकर धमका रहे है। क्या इस तरह सरकार शांति बनाना चाहती है?

पुलिस आँखें मूँदकर एक तरफा कार्रवाई कर रही है—आधी रात को मुस्लिम महिलाओं को घर से उठाकर ले जाया जा रहा है, वह भी बिना महिला पुलिस कर्मियों के। अगर सरकार का इरादा मुसलमानों को बर्बाद करने का ही है, तो वह ऐसा व्यवहार करती रहे, उसे रोकने वाला कौन है?

The Supreme Court directs the Maharashtra Election Commission to notify local body elections in the State within four weeks. The bench also directed that an endeavour shall be made by the state election commission to conclude the elections within four months.

“In our considered opinion, the constitutional mandate of grassroots democracy through periodical elections of the local bodies ought to be respected and ensured”, a bench led by Justice Surya Kant stated in the order.

The top-court noted that the local body elections in the State had not been held for several years due to the pendency several issues that arose with regard to OBC reservations.
