اب کا تو پتہ نہیں مگر کوئی ڈیڑھ عشرہ پہلے کراچی میں کسی کے ہاں جمعہ گوٹھ کے متصل علاقہ میں جانا ہوا تھا۔ اس دوران اچانک بجلی بند ہو گئی تو انھوں نے کہہ کہ میں ابھی لائن چینج کر کے آتا ہوں۔ میں ان کے ساتھ چھت پر گیا تو انھوں اپنے کُنڈے ایک طرف کی لائن سے اٹھا کر دوسری طرف کی لائن پر رکھ دئیے۔ انھوں بتایا کہ یہ فسیلٹی صرف کارنر والے مکانوں کے پاس ہے جن کے پاس سے دو لائنیں گزرتی ہیں باقی لوگوں کو زیادہ تر ایک لائن پر ہی گزارا کرنا پڑتا ہے۔ مزید پوچھنے پر بتایا گیا کہ وہ وہاں چیکنگ والےکو فکسڈ منتھلی دیتے ہیں جبکہ وہ پورا علاقہ ایسے ہی کنڈہ سسٹم پر چل رہا تھا۔
اب کوئی بہتری آ گئی ہو تو کچھ کہہ نہیں سکتے۔

Its official: Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan have signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement at a trilateral summit in Makkah.

The pact states that an armed attack on any one of the three countries will be considered an attack on all, while significantly expanding defence cooperation and collective deterrence.

This picture was taken around 3am (Thursday) at Islamabad airport. Qatar Airways flight QR632 landed at 1:45am but passengers were still waiting for their luggage more than an hour later.

Just returned after spending two weeks travelling through Paris, Brussels and Oslo. At every airport, from immigration to baggage claim, everything was quick and smooth. Remember, those airports are far bigger workload to handle.

Also, after you have already cleared immigration, there is another person checking the same entry stamp.

Chairman sb you have rightly identified business models in Pakistan and its limitations.
If I may add, Over a decade ago, I, along with journalists from Europe and Asia, visited German state of Baden-Württemberg in southwest Germany. We also went to family owned factories doing billions of Euros annual business. Most of these were family-owned SMEs. They were competitive and making profits. Resolution of Trade disputes, which you also identified as a hurdle, was not an issue because of strong and independent judicial system. Above all, the economic environment was competitive and cost of doing business was/is not high.
Our problem is high taxation, high energy costs, low trusts in courts, abnormally high interest rates, low availability of capital and non recognition of SMEs as a true player for economic revival. SMEs owners mostly do not get an audience with PM before or after budget.
