We lost, but I have an eerie sense of relief that the US players won't have to go through more of this unprecedented situation brought on by the narcissist's self-serving stunt.
I'd say if the lunatic hadn't interfered and made FIFA change the decision, the US would have played much, much better — at least not this disastrously.
What the lunatic did was not save Balogun from suspension; he destroyed not just the integrity of the game but the mentality of the US players. How could they play at their best under that kind of pressure, criticized from practically all over the world?
@Eyeswideopen69 As an American, I don't want my team to win by cheating.
The complication tonight is that the cheating wasn't done by the player or the team. It was done by the orange in the White House.
So yeah, in a way it's worse.
Trump's red card intervention has done such a massive disservice to the US football team & American fans.
He's politicised the team by tainting them with his corruption.
The rest of the world is rooting for Belgium tonight for political reasons. That's not how sport should be.
Trump on USA-Belgium: "If they beat us, they can be really proud. The other way, if they beat us, we'll say -- I say it was rigged, just like the election was rigged in 2020, but I won't get into that."
What I want to see tomorrow:
The US defeats Belgium without Balogun.
What I could accept tomorrow:
The US is defeated by Belgium without Balogun.
What I do not want to see or accept:
The US defeats Belgium with Balogun.
Or, the US is defeated by Belgium with Balogun.
I am officially nominating Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) for the Nobel Peace Prize.
No President in History has ended the same war so many times.
Our Dear Leader has ended the war with Iran at least 38 times by CNN’s count.
No President has ever done this before.
And he is nowhere near finished ending it.
It’s a record worthy of the Nobel committee’s recognition. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
