Naspers and Prosus have bought back US$43bn of their own shares since 2022.
The discount went from 54% to 37%. Then it went back to 42.8%.
So have the twins tumbled?

I joined Ntaoleng Lechela on @BusinessDayTV's The Close yesterday to discuss market sentiment, the Trump–Xi meeting, Chinese tech, Naspers/Prosus and my stock pick, Pepkor.
Markets may remain volatile until there is greater geopolitical clarity, but Chinese tech’s long-term AI and localisation story remains compelling.
Naspers and Prosus still offer SA investors meaningful Tencent exposure at wide discounts to underlying value, although the catalyst can take time.
Pepkor remains attractive to me on valuation, market opportunity and its growing fintech engine.

@sidecarcap The ones who opt for remuneration skewed toward long term share-based remuneration over high cash remuneration. CEOs which are extremely operationally aware. As an example, a grocery store chain can't be run from an office, it has to be run from the floor...
One of the best investment rules is to never buy or sell a company because of something happening around it - economy, war, interest rates, politics, inflation, etc.
I joined Ntaoleng Lechela on @BusinessDayTV Stock Watch yesterday to unpack a few of the market themes and company results currently in focus.
We discussed the divergence between equity-market optimism, particularly around AI-led earnings growth, and the more cautious signals coming from long-term bond yields. Markets seem to remain willing to look through near-term risks while the earnings story holds, but ultimately those expectations need to be delivered.
We also touched on Home Depot’s update, SPAR’s need for strategic stability in a tough retail environment, and Absa’s decent performance despite uneven conditions across its African operations.
On the mining side, BHP remains a high-quality, low-cost operator, with copper becoming a more meaningful contributor to earnings as demand from AI infrastructure and renewables continues to build.
My stock pick was S&P Global.

The stock market is a fascinating place.
Fears around the AI theme have been around for months. Now that markets are falling on that theme, some participants will call it a “crash”. This is overexuberance and expectations that ran too high.
It’s amazing how quickly a rally or pullback can happen on a topic that’s been with us for a while.
