Russians dropped a FAB-3000 (aka 3000 kg aerial bomb) on an underground school that was built as a shelter for kids to study in 2025. People were receiving humanitarian aid there. Obliterated the school and almost 100 civilian people there.
And it's crickets from all the "targeting civilians with bombs is genocide" crowd and international orgs barely said anything.
In fact, we had more talking about a clearly staged russian show with a "martyr" 14 year old boy "tortured" by "Zelenskyy regime" that was proven to be utter bulshit on the spot. Good times.
‼️ @Shelby_Wilder from Kyiv on @NEWSMAX as the channel covers the evacuation from Oleshky:
"Newsmax crew is in Oleshky to be independent observers. But we have to make no mistake to give context to the situation.
Russia is using this humanitarian operation as a propaganda opportunity. Moscow wants to portray itself as the rescuer of civilians in a city that it occupies. One it has destroyed and plunged into this humanitarian crisis. And we need to be clear: Russia controls what we are going to be allowed to see.
Moscow appears to have brought in numerous Russian media compared to just the one American news outlet. Because of that, our team is not is not going to have an unrestricted picture of life under Russian occupation. The people that we could speak to very well could be under duress, and Russian authorities are showing us what they want the world to see. That is essential when we're going to be evaluating the first images and reports that are coming out of Oleshky.
But nonetheless, the fact that civilians are being evacuated and offer this humanitarian aid this is historic. This has been brokered by the White House, and this is a significant point in the war. We're seeing a localized ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine continue to hold to enable this operation to take place. We are again tracking the developments coming out of Oleshky today. All eyes are on this ceasefire, and we will certainly keep you posted."
During the Holodomor when the famine news reached the western press, they started organizing propaganda tour strictly limited to Kyiv to some selected western journalist to make it look like nothing was happening in Ukraine.
It seem like we're gonna witness that in 2026.
Americans simply use Ukraine as a political football.
The Obama-Biden administration, despite Budapest Memo obligations, did nothing to help Ukraine in 2014 when Putin took Crimea. Incidentally, in 2014 Joe Biden's son was hired from ... Moscow. Hmm...
And now Obama criticizes Trump for the latter's awful, craven Ukraine policy.
It would ring true if Obama first apologized.
🚨 BREAKING: A Russian attack drone struck a platform at a Dnipro railway station, killing at least 13 people and injuring ten.
Zelenskyy called on the US, EU, and G7 to impose new, stronger sanctions on Moscow, warning that easing sanctions only fuels further Russian war escalations.
‼️ IMPORTANT: We expect Putin to use the evacuation from Oleshky as a PR stunt and an attempt to rewrite the history of what happened in the city. The American public should be aware of Russia’s disinformation tactics and know what warning signs to watch for.
Here are some key Q&As ⬇️
What is happening in Oleshky, and how severe is the humanitarian situation?
Oleshky, located across the Dnipro River from Kherson city, has been under Russian occupation since 2022. An estimated 2,000 civilians remain trapped in the city, including around 50 children. Most are elderly people, people with disabilities, and their caregivers.
Residents face severe shortages of food and medicine, with no access to drinking water, electricity, gas, or heating. The last regular road deliveries of food took place in May 2026. Medical and sanitary conditions have deteriorated dramatically. Russia does not provide humanitarian relief to the city and has refused to allow the ICRC or the UN to enter, despite multiple attempts.
Why have residents been unable to leave?
Swarming drones, heavily mined roads, and destroyed infrastructure have made it extremely dangerous for residents to leave. Russian forces have blocked civilians from fleeing and prevented humanitarian aid from reaching those trapped in Oleshky. According to @nytimes, people who managed to escape the city described residents being used as human shields.
What exactly has been agreed upon now?
A localized ceasefire took effect at 3 a.m. Kyiv time on October 27 to facilitate humanitarian assistance and prepare for civilian evacuations. The plan involves demining, aid deliveries, and the opening of a humanitarian corridor, with evacuations expected to begin on October 29.
Ukraine welcomed efforts to provide humanitarian relief, brokered by @FLOTUS Melania Trump and @Pontifex Pope Leo XIV. Ukrainian officials have agreed to the localized ceasefire but remain concerned about implementation and compliance, given Russia’s long history of violating humanitarian agreements.
Where will civilians be taken?
According to @FT, residents seeking evacuation will be first taken to occupied Crimea or Russia rather than directly to Ukrainian-controlled territory across the Dnipro River.
Will the evacuation through Russia be voluntary?
Establishing genuine consent will be particularly difficult when residents are desperate for food, water, and medical care and have limited access to independent information. Many of these people will likely be taken to Russia against their wishes. According to Ukrainian officials, some people may decide to remain in Oleshky.
What will happen to evacuees afterward?
Russian officials have said that residents wishing to return to Ukraine will be able to do so. However, there are serious concerns that people transferred to Russian-controlled territory could face interrogation, filtration procedures, detention, or pressure to obtain Russian documents or register with Russian authorities.
Children face additional risks, including separation from their families or placement in Russian custody. People seeking to reach Ukrainian-controlled territory may have to travel through Russia and Belarus, and then through EU countries before entering Ukraine from the west.
Why is independent international monitoring essential?
Ukraine's Human Rights Commissioner, Dmytro Lubinets, is coordinating evacuation requests, but important operational details remain unclear. There is no confirmation that the ICRC, UNHCR, or other independent international organizations will monitor the evacuations.
Independent monitors should have access to evacuation routes and destinations, be able to speak privately with civilians, verify consent, protect children and vulnerable people, and investigate alleged violations.
Will there be American observers on the ground?
The White House has said an impartial American media organization will accompany the operation and document the process. @Newsmax has announced plans to send journalists to Oleshky.
Their presence could provide invaluable reporting and documentation. However, journalists are not a substitute for humanitarian monitors: they do not have the same mandate, expertise, or access guarantees to protect civilians and enforce compliance with international humanitarian law. Moreover, American journalists themselves also face serious security risks in Russian-controlled territory.
What Russian disinformation tactics should the public watch for?
@peterpomeranzev of @TRPforJustice, who has been studying Russian propaganda for years, warns in his analysis for the @KyivIndependent that residents of Oleshky, under the pressure of living on the brink of death, could become props for Russian propagandists.
Russia may be preparing to stage dozens of videos in occupied Oleshky, in which local residents will be forced to say on camera that they are happy, well-fed, and grateful to the Russian occupiers.
Ukrainian officials have warned that Moscow could portray the evacuation as evidence that Ukrainians freely choose to move to Russia. Russia will most likely try to blame Ukraine for the horrors Russian army has unleashed on Oleshky — and take more Ukrainian children under the pretext of “protecting” them and providing humanitarian assistance.
If you’ve read this far, please share this so more people are aware of the situation and know what to expect next. Thank you!
I am deeply outraged by Melania Trump’s statement regarding the evacuation of civilians from Russian-occupied Oleshky.
“Some will want to go to Russia, and some to Ukraine.”
Excuse me, but OLESHKY IS UKRAINE! It is a city in the Kherson region, occupied by the Russian Federation.
Why are we once again talking about Russia and Ukraine as though they are two equally legitimate parties simply offering civilians different destinations?
Russia is the country that occupied this city.
For years, people have been living under occupation, isolation and catastrophic humanitarian conditions.
According to journalistic reports, civilians attempting to escape Oleshky and reach Ukrainian-controlled territory have been killed by drone strikes.
So what freedom of choice are we talking about?
I support any genuinely safe humanitarian operation that can save civilian lives.
But evacuation must not become a tool for legitimising occupation or removing responsibility from the aggressor.
We need independent international observers, genuine security guarantees, protection against coercion, and safe routes allowing civilians to reach Ukrainian-controlled territory.
And most importantly, no humanitarian agreement changes Ukraine’s internationally recognised borders.
RUSSIA OCCUPIED OLESHKY. RUSSIA BEARS RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF CIVILIANS UNDER ITS OCCUPATION.
Helping people is essential.
But humanitarian assistance must never become a political justification for occupation.
And we must stop presenting the aggressor and the victim of aggression as though they bear equal responsibility.
Oleshky is Ukraine. Kherson is Ukraine. Occupation does not change sovereignty.

a reminder that Oleshky isn’t just an occupied city, but a city forced to live through ongoing Russia-enforced famine, with hundreds of people suffering from having no food for the last 6 months.
The misogyny and xenophobia is deafening.
People are so quick to forget how russians bombings damaged Elina’s club in Kyiv. How she still visits army units in 🇺🇦. How war can be all consuming. And people that never had to live through their home being razed are quick to judge.
We don't talk enough about the invisible wounds of war that Ukrainian women are dealing with.
And about the pretty visible and vile massive bullying they're being exposed to outside like in the comment section here.
🚨 BREAKING: A baby in a stroller and two women were killed after a Russian attack targeted a park in Kharkiv region.
Fourteen people were injured, seven of them children.
Snyder: Unlike Czechoslovakia, Ukraine resisted. Unlike Poland in 1939, Ukraine's leadership did not leave and the resistance was effective.
If Ukraine had surrendered, Russia would hold its territory, resources and technology. The conflict would be much bigger. 1/
