A reminder that the Qur'an is not about hitting musical scales or imitating this reciter or that reciter.
The renowned Muqri' Sheikh Mustafa Makhloufy refuting this tragedy that has become more and more commonplace. It is so important for us to protect the Qur'an

Send abundant ṣalawāt upon the one who sacrificed his life, his comfort, his wealth, and his safety, just so you could internalise the message of lā ilāha illā Allah.
Many marriages do not fail from a lack of love, but from a lack of the friendship & connection that sustains and increases the love, trust, respect and understanding, and strengthen the companionship.
Love may begin a marriage; friendship and connection is what preserves it.
Even if the only benefit of Tahajjud was the peace, serenity, and calmness that is attained, it would still be worth it to wake up for
Imagine when there is so much more to it: a means of drawing closer to Allāh, presenting duʿāʾ at the time of acceptance, obtaining forgiveness.
A student of ʿilm matures when:
- he moves beyond exclusive reliance on later day books & returns to the classical authoritative sources (even leaving Hans Wehr for classical dictionaries) &
- ensures to obtain and use the best and most reliable editions of every Kitāb he buys.
The first step to a beautiful marriage is respect:
Expect less, respect more.
The second is tolerance:
If you tolerate, you will never hate.
The third is appreciation.
Show appreciation, it will strengthen affection.
Don't obstruct the blessings of Allah ﷻ on the assumption that you'll receive another test instead.
Many people stop themselves from enjoying, appreciating, or benefiting from Allah's favours out of fear of the evil eye.
A short thread 🧵
Amongst the greatest harms of sins are:
- Being deprived of performing Tahajjud prayers
- Not enjoying the sweetness and presence when reciting the Qur’ān
- Finding it difficult to cry in duʿā’
- Feeling distant from Allāh
- Falling into other sins
- Being unable to perform good
Masjid al-Haram in the 90s.
Before the towers rose around it, the Haram felt open and serene, allowing pilgrims to focus solely on worship, reflection, and the sight of the Kaaba.
There's one Arabic word that separates founders who build great companies from founders who build great companies AND keep their families intact. Most have never heard it.
The word is haq. It means a right that is owed.
Mohammed Faris (in the picture with me below from my recent trip to the US) is the one who introduced me to this framing, and it changed how I think about productivity completely.
Before his work, productivity to me meant getting more done. More tasks, more output, more hours. The usual founder nonsense.
His framing is different. It's not about output. It's about whether you're giving each part of your life what it's owed.
Your body has a haq over you.
Your wife has a haq over you.
Your kids have a haq over you.
Your Lord has a haq over you.
Your own soul has a haq over you.
Most founders are delivering on one of these and defaulting on the other four.
And the tricky part is, it doesn't feel like neglect. Revenue is growing. There's real traction. That is genuinely a good thing - but not in isolation.
It can't come at the expense of your children's tarbiyyah or the rights your spouse has over you. That kind of "productivity" is just being busy in one direction and neglectful in every other.
So here's the uncomfortable move: don't decide for yourself whether you're giving everyone their haq.
Go ask them.
And be ready for an honest answer.
Have conviction that you are mustajāb ad-daʿwah.
Ask Allāh, then maintain firm certainty that He will most definitely respond to you.
You will witness the answer to your duʿāʾ soon, or later, either in this world or in the Hereafter.
It is narrated that one of the pious once wanted to divorce his wife. When he was asked: "What makes you dislike her?" He said: "An intelligent person does not reveal a secret.' When he had divorced her he was asked: "What made you divorce her?" His reply was: I
