Zakariya has spent 17 years in prison.

Seventeen years.

For almost a decade and a half, his trial did not even begin. During all these years, he was out for less than a week in total.

He couldn’t even visit his ailing mother.

And this is not just any mother. It is Beeyumma, now in her seventies, who has spent years fighting for justice for the son she believes was falsely implicated.

Beeyumma’s struggle went far beyond seeking justice for her son. She approached the Supreme Court challenging the use of the draconian UAPA, turning her personal grief into a larger fight for civil liberties.

The irony is painful.

The trial in the Bengaluru blasts case began only a few years ago and is now almost complete. The Supreme Court had directed that it be concluded within months.

But yesterday, the Karnataka High Court transferred the case from the trial court to another court.

Another court. Another delay. Another set of years.

And then there is Quadir. Another prisoner in the Bengaluru blast case.

He died in prison just weeks ago. Even if he had ultimately been convicted, the maximum punishment for the offence he was accused of was three years. Instead, he spent 17 years behind bars until his last breath.

In India, justice delayed is not merely justice denied. Sometimes, it becomes a life sentence without a conviction.

India's economy is genuinely in trouble. But this piece gets both the diagnosis and the cure wrong.

Look at how it keeps score: money flowing in, the currency, stock-market rankings, how much foreign investors pulled out. That measures whether capital is comfortable, not whether the country can make things. By that scoreboard a place that produces nothing but keeps investors happy looks like a winner. The question is set up wrong from the first line.

The cure it prescribes, lower taxes, fewer rules, woo capital harder, is the exact medicine India has swallowed for a decade, and the article's own evidence is the record of it failing. India chased Tesla, paid Apple to assemble iPhones, and treated investment inflows as a national scoreboard, and got a few assembly lines with little capability behind them. Telling a patient to double the dose that made him sick is odd advice.

The protections it scolds, local courts before arbitration, capital-gains tax, a higher bar on imports, are ordinary tools for a country that wants to keep its own tax and regulatory powers and build its industry. India's real error was who it sheltered: Tata, Reliance, Adani, the incumbents who needed it least, while the protection never went toward forcing real competition.

Wooing capital and building industry are two different jobs, and India keeps mistaking the first for the second. The weak rupee and the thin investment are symptoms. The missing industrial base is the disease.

Esse é o caos que muitos analistas geopolíticos não estão incluindo nas suas análises sobre a mudança na ordem global.
Eu incluo porque é o fator principal, estamos falando em colapso civilizatório global, isso conta muitos mais do que as loucuras dos EUA em desespero pelo seu declínio hegemônico.

Os países precisam correr para conseguir fazer adaptações climáticas profundas, com o atual modelo de governança assimétrico e imperialista, não está sobrando dinheiro para as nações investirem nem na transição energética para reduzir a velocidade em que o planeta aquece.

É uma loucura ver isso e saber que um país está tentando sabotar a sobrevivência de várias nações e a estabilidade internacional.
