i would look at what the decks are trying to do and see which one appeals to you

@PacceyGuy I also got into mtg this summer, i was in a very similar situation as you are, with a friend looking for people to play commander

I got a precon, the power level is noticeably lower than a very competitive deck, but the more recent ones can do enough to compete, i would say
