A superpower in rapid decline, defeated by its own hubris and incompetence. Not necessarily because it lost this war militarily -what is far more detrimental is the irreversible loss of perceived invincibility and of the narrative.
Yes, the Iran war is the biggest blunder in US history, but the final nail in the coffin of US hegemony is not a mere military defeat. It is the complete destruction of its superiority and credibility by surrendering its sovereignty to special interests and foreign powers.
The end of US dominance started long ago when it turned itself into a political auction house. It started with Super PACs, Super Delegates and Citizens United -with Miriam Adelson, Benjamin Netanyahu and AIPAC.
And it will end with them.
The US today may be able to kidnap or assassinate political leaders, steal resources in broad daylight, and bomb schoolchildren, weddings, hospitals and universities. It can commit genocide and drop phosphorus bombs on the refugees it created inside an open-air concentration camp. It can project fear like a rogue terrorist entity. But it cannot pretend to be the good guy anymore. It cannot expect to be trusted anymore. It cannot influence its allies anymore. It cannot convince its own people.
And it will never again be able to convince young Americans to die in its illegal, horrendous wars.
US world domination is falling apart in real time.
Iran just accelerated the inevitable collapse.
