Climber one (ego climber) obsesses over how life will change when she summits; dreams of the selfies she'll take, IG posts, and improved self-worth.
Climber two (grounded climber) focuses on the process, takes small consistent steps, enjoys the view.

As you go through your athletic journey you will start to understand that itโs not about what you accomplish or how many accolades you receive. Itโs not just winning/awards. Itโs all about the person you become, how many people you help & how you treat & respect those around you!
The roots of massive redwood trees only run 6 to 12 feet deep. Instead of deep, they grow out, extending hundreds of feet laterally, wrapping around the roots of their neighbors. They help each other stand firmly in the ground, even amidst storms.
This is a model for us, too.
Skills and learning transfers when training in one context shapes performance and learning in another context.
To promote positive transfer

What I love most about this Zen aphorism is that it points toward the truth that there is no arriving.

It is easy to show up when you are at your best and everything is clicking.
It is hard to show up when you are in a hole and the current is going against you.
Everyone can do the former. But it's the latter that has a huge impact on long-term performance and success.
A few years ago, there was a beta study around the impact of the environment on people's behaviours. It was a joint venture between the BOC and Harvard. The research revealed that the environment influenced 80% of behaviours at any given time. Here's a thread about this. ๐งต๐
