FORMAL APPEAL TO THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA 🇰🇷

The Republic of Korea already has the constitutional and diplomatic mechanisms required to change who is accepted as Iran’s diplomatic representative.

Under Article 73 of the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, the President has the authority to accredit and receive diplomatic envoys. Under Article 89, important matters of foreign policy are referred to the State Council for deliberation.

The Republic of Korea is also a party to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which it ratified in 1970.

Iran and the Iranian people are not the Islamic Republic.

The officials currently serving in Iran’s diplomatic mission in Seoul were appointed by the Islamic Republic. Their current diplomatic status does not make the Islamic Republic permanently inseparable from the diplomatic representation of Iran.

The legal mechanisms already exist.

Under Article 4 of the Vienna Convention, the receiving State must grant agrément before a proposed head of mission is accredited.

Under Article 9, the receiving State may at any time declare the head of mission or another member of the diplomatic staff persona non grata or otherwise unacceptable, without having to explain its decision.

The campaign therefore formally requests that the Government of the Republic of Korea:

end the accepted diplomatic functions of representatives appointed by the Islamic Republic through the lawful procedures available to South Korea;

accept Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi as the transitional authority competent to nominate Iran’s interim diplomatic representatives;

and

begin the established agrément, credentials and accreditation process for representatives nominated under his authority to represent Iran in the Republic of Korea.

Iran is the country.
The Iranian people are its people.
The Islamic Republic is not Iran.

Zarei ha una storia travagliata di lotta per la libertà. Durante la repressione del 2022 aveva perso un occhio, colpito dai pallini della polizia, ma era riuscito a fuggire in Germania. Al suo rientro in Iran, lo scorso aprile, è stato arrestato e condannato a morte per 'corruzione sulla terra'.

La comunità internazionale intervenga, sono attimi decisivi. Dobbiamo fare di tutto perché Ali non si aggiunga al già lunghissimo elenco di persone giustiziate in Iran, uno dei paesi al mondo in cui la pena di morte è più utilizzata.

در ژوئیه ۱۹۸۸، اردن به دستور ملک حسین (پدرِ پادشاه کنونی) و در اقدامی که نقض آشکار حقوق بین‌الملل محسوب می‌شد، به‌طور یک‌جانبه و دسته‌جمعی، تابعیت و حقوق فلسطینیانِ ساکن «یهودا و سامره» را لغو کرد.

فلسطینیانِ ساکن این مناطق، یک‌شبه حق رأی دادن یا نامزدی برای انتخابات پارلمان اردن، حق کار در دستگاه‌های دولتی اردن و حق دریافت کمک‌هزینه از پادشاهی هاشمی را از دست دادند. گذرنامه‌های اردنی آن‌ها ضبط یا تمدید نشد و آن‌ها در زمره اتباع خارجی طبقه‌بندی شدند؛ همچنین ورودشان به اردن و امکان اقامت در آن کشور محدود گردید.

و حالا او برای ما دم از حقوق بین‌الملل می‌زند!

Certainly, one of the questions military historians will have in the decades ahead is why we did not arm the Iranian people early in this war, a tremendous asset left out of the war effort (there doesn't appear to have been any great effort to undertake this) and why we sidelined the Israelis, another huge asset.  There was no reason to tap the brakes early in this war.  And expectations of negotiated settlements were overblown.  And then all the talk about non-existent offramps.  It may be time for some new advisers.  It's worth a thought.
