@Legendaryy "Math was made by humans for humans" is a funny thing for a mathematician to say, when the whole appeal of math is that a proof is true no matter who wrote it. ---- Spot on, bro
@burny_tech Their work has shifted to understanding the implications and nuances of what the AI has solved. The sooner they adapt, the better. And if you do not see that statements like "mathematicians did not ask for this work to be done" are causing a wave of outrage, you are blind
@peterottsjo Are they aware of the tremendous damage to their reputation they have inflicted upon themselves? Are they aware of how out of touch with reality they are?
"Los matemáticos no pidieron que este trabajo se realizara" (que problemas de décadas se resolvieran) -- Esta frase pase a la historia como una de las más infames jamás dichas.
@DeryaTR_ It's outrageous. I hope they see everyone is laughing at them and despising their egotistical vision and change their beliefs and approach when the second batch of results comes
@PoooandP@flowersslop No, the opposite. A lot of mathematicians (the good ones, at least spiritually) are excited to dive into these results and there will be more math people than ever (the same effect as with Deep Blue and Kasparov), we'll just get rid of the obnoxious gatekeepers
@flowersslop It is indeed horrible. It seems they do not want solutions, just to feed their egos. "Ethically researched" - WTF?! Such narcissistic pricks. Sad to see this reaction; good thing we do not need them anymore
@yuzu_4ever@JuliusRocaesar I reckon almost everyone cares about the progress, not who makes it. And yes, the Tao letter was ridiculous, narcissistic and completely out of touch. Your plans prior to ASI are fucked, just like everyone else's. Adapt, pivot and enjoy life.
@moonsandhues it’s just that a lot of techno-optimists are anti-human, anti-life, anti-nature --- who are you reading/seeing? My experience is exactly the opposite. The doomers are antihuman
