Very tired of seeing anti-AI arguments in higher ed being made via ableist, sanist, and illness language and metaphors.
Yes I know you hate sick people. Yes I know you hate AI. Yes I know why you equate sick with bad and bad with sick.
We are not in this together.
The disregard @Zain has for their customers such as myself that I had to file a lawsuit to get my phone number back after 2 months of fighting them and I’m still having trouble accessing it and unable to login to my what’s app is beyond frustrating and upsetting.
I haven’t had access to my Kuwaiti # for months despite wanting to login to pay whatever fees. Rather than contacting me in other ways or through the alternative contact info (i.e., email), @Zain decided to just have a random lawyer reach out to me over WHAT’S APP!! (1/n)
Instead of telling a disabled person that support should exist if things were “really that bad”…why not BE the support?
Instead of telling us to “try harder” to find help…why not offer help?
Non disabled folks are quick to tell us support exists, but never quick to provide it
real.
also, isn't it interesting how it's always the english (lit) teachers? what does that tell you about the impact and value of humanities/being able to read 'into' things
If you ask me, the hardest part of accommodating the way your neurodivergent brain works isn't finding the strategies or tools.
It's learning to accept that you need the strategies or tools and that it doesn't change your value as a person
What makes things worse is that they canceled my number an hour AFTER my dad (my POA) signed the contract to have it reactivated. Not only is that a breach of contract, but they only did it for monetary reasons bc my number is considered a “VIP” number. @Zain

That also used to be my mom’s number who passed away allah yarhamha and I’ve had that number for more than a decade. All I’m going to say is screw them and the phone companies in Kuwait for their shittiness, esp. towards Kuwaitis abroad during this precarious time.
But couldn’t send me an email to pay my fees when I’m not even in the country. Although I paid the dues and my family did back home to reactivate it, I have no access to my phone and they’re causing a commission for no valid reason when they could just give me my # back (2/n)
“Reading is performative.” “Reading in groups is performative.” Stop. Ask yourself why reading is the only activity we say this about, and who benefits from that. Don’t let yourself be propagandized into abandoning one of life’s greatest pleasures. We are in a literacy crisis.
Neurotypicals will be like "I know you have a disability that affects your ability to stay organized, manage your time properly, socialize, or control what you're able to think about or focus on, but that's not an excuse to have trouble staying organized, managing your time properly, socializing, or controlling what you need to think about or focus on." And then demand that they aren't ableist. I'm tired.
“I suck it up and push through with my disabilities. So can you”
You actually don’t get extra points for making yourself suffer. It doesn’t make you better.
Being a carer for a disabled person is incredibly hard, but there is a world of a difference between carers who think it’s hard because the disabled person is a burden and those who think it’s hard because the state has abandoned disabled people
